Also, since you need Shards for crafting anyway, I highly recommend just starting with the class you want, and "going blind" for your first playthrough. Apart from your mastery you can respec all skills for free, and your passives for relatively low fees, so your choices can all be reverted.
Apart from that, I don't know any written guides, as they don't really make much sense for an early access game, where big patches regulary throw balancing upside down...
I have a pet necromancer, a pet beastmaster, and a pet shaman (I love pet builds :D ) and basically... just pick anything with +minion damage and take defensive stats for yourself, and you're good to go up to ~level 60 at least.

Shaman, Druid or Beastmaster? Do you want to stay away, or do you want to join the fray in melee? (Especially Beastmaster has many Skills that improve your pets if you melee attacked recently)
Do you want to go physical damage? Elemental Hit damage? Afflictions? You can go a Poison/Bleed Pet route if you want.
There are so many possibilities that you won't know which build will offer you most fun until you experimented a bunch with all the different options. It's too early to have "The best pet build".
@ChaZZer : Because the guy needs help and prefers to discover the game through premade builds... probably without receiving this kind of answer. Have a nice day. ;-)
