Removing Modifier or Support Items
These are easiest to remove and include the Rune of Shattering/Refinement/Removal/Cleansing as well as the Glyph of the Guardian and Glyph of Stability. Just select them so the that they appear in the small box within the Forge menu and then drag and drop this item from the Forge menu into your inventory.
Affix Shards
Done the exact same way by selecting them from the 'modifier' section, but you need to get the shards into this section of the Forge first. You do this by adding an item to the Forge that still has the desired Affix open for the shard you want to move to your inventory. So say I want an "Armor Shard", I need to add an item to the Forge menu that can apply this shard to it so I can then select the shard. Now you drag and drop and the shard into your inventory.
I don't know why you would do it, but you can. Though, it will be incredibly tedious especially if you want to move hundreds of these shards.
Say I put a shard I like (but only have 1 of) into a weapon, then 5 mins later I find a better weapon?
In this case you would use a Rune of Shattering on the original weapon and pray to the RNG gods that you get that shard back so you can then place it in the new weapon.
But I feel as though you misinterpret what this thread was asking. It is talking about removing the shards from the Forge inventory back into your inventory. Hence my response of "I don't know why you would do it, but you can."
