But Boss battle stimulator? Not really at all, some people do that probably for fun and post the video on sosial media/youtube once they started have nothing to else to do after beat the game.
However God Eater do have a few area for us to explore to eliminate enemies, find & search material to pick it up . Consider there have a lots of stages to do in each rank / contents to clear.
And yes,it does have crafting system in God Eater series , material / Gears / Equipment / inventory & storage management and others.
And for the bundle, it says it's the God Eater trilogy... but there's only two games... lol.
Is the story of the first really necessary? Or am I good to start in 2?
If you want to get God Eater Resurrection ( which is god eater 1 ) ,you will need to purchase the God Eater 2 Rage Burst to unlock it for free. But since there is a bundle while in discount before it's over, you might consider it .
If you want to play God Eater 2 to experience the gameplay & story contents first before consider to play god eater 3 or Resurrection , then sure you can go ahead to try it out , there is nothing wrong to play other series than 3 .
For story , if you really like to see the story cutscenes while playing it , of course you could see because God Eater Resurrection and 2 Rage Burst have a decent rich story include side story & Character story that I checked every single one of them back then which is pretty nice stories .
However , it is not necessary to which one should play first as it will not effect the story or gameplay .
Is this just for the first game? Or are 2 and 3 basically the same as 1?
I assume all 3 God Eater series are having the same gameplay ,select & accept mission from the quest counter > Hunting down the certain aragami & search and collect material from the area > leave the combat zone once the mission is fulfilled the requirement > mission clear.
Since it's not really a exploration game ,developers decide to add multiple maps for us to explore ,a lots of mission from each rank ,rich stories & side stories .
More missions from each rank ,more things to do.
The game feels mostly carried by the combat, to be honest.
