If you want a pretty casual experience with slow methodical combat, Monster Hunter World is your best bet. The game, unfortunately, is woefully easy with the only real challenge being the Tempered Elder Dragons and even they're about early G-Rank in difficulty in comparison with the other MH titles. The weapons all feel the best they've ever been though.
If you want a fast paced game that's designed entirely around the fight rather than the hunt, then Toukiden or God Eater fit the bill, with Toukiden leaning a bit more towards the Monster Hunter style of gameplay and God Eater leaning more towards a hack and slash action RPG rather than a Monster Hunter style.
As for Dauntless, to me it's basically a Monster Hunter with half (or less) of the content. It was fun for a bit, but quickly got old. Ymmv though. The lack of weapons and fun combat was the biggest drawback to me, the weapons they have are boring (to me) and they only have 6 weapons last I checked. Edit: It's only upside is that it's free.
I'd say go with Monster Hunter World or God Eater 3. I prefer God Eater because I like the faster pace and the weapons all feel really good to use, plus I love how customizable it is with having 3 unique "Arts" you can use (Step, Jump, Ground), and then each of those can have an effect from a massive list, you have Triggers that activate when you perform certain actions (avoid damage for 20s, perform 5 ground combos, perform 5 devours, etc.) that give you big buffs. Your weapon is a gun and a shield at the same time and there's 5 gun types, and 3 shield types. You can make custom bullets that do specific things. There's so much you can do to make your character unique from others using the same weapon as you.
Dauntless is free. Problem solved
Dauntless is free, sure, but in my opinion, it's a garbage game. Why? Simple really, it lacks content, only a limited amount of weapons, and the game only has you hunting "Large" monsters/Bosses, so the maps/stages you're in feel absolutely baron. Least, last time I checked.
I'm currently taking a break from MHW, and playing God Eater 3, while it's fun, if you're looking to play with other human beings, God Eater 3 is definitely not the way to go unless you have friends. So, if you don't mind playing with Bots the entire game, or what it feels like to me anyways, I wouldn't go anywhere near God Eater 3.
The Bots in GE 3 aren't bad, but, just not as good as Human players. Again, if you're going into an "Online" game expecting "Online" features. God Eater 3 probably isn' t for you, and again, you should probably just stick with Monster Hunter World, as it's Vastly more populated, and a new expansion is coming out sometime this year, "Iceborne" which is going to add quite a bit more content, or from what I've read up on anyways.
Also Monster Hunter World Microtransactions, aren't a complete joke, you get what you buy, but nothing game changing, or anything that will give you an advantage over anyone else.
Capcom has been killing it the past couple of years, I'd say you could trust them more than some companies... For now, at least...
Just a personal opinion imo.

I mean if you can find a copy... sure?? I guess
MHW is the most polished and combat is the most satisfying by far. Impacts and monster reactions are perfect. For the first 50-100 hours you will absolutely love it. I got really bored by the end though, there's a ton of tedium in between the awesome fights. And monsters run to predictable locations, after a few fights it's like oh it's that time again. Also I completely hate pretty much everything about Investigations. Story is barely there and there's not much character interaction. And late game content seems to be all about monsters having 1 hit kills.
Toukiden 2 is pretty solid, but is eternally overpriced. Koei never gives it a decent sale or reduces it's price. The first to do open worlds, and the grappling hand is awesome. Plot is pretty solid and combat feels okay. However the open worlds feel pretty barren after the first area and aren't used to their fullest, and the crafting tree is ??? where you won't know which weapon line dead ends until you craft the item.
God Eater is a hunting game distilled to it's base and than injected with pure anime. Has the best story and characters of all of them (yes even 3 still beats the others). Also the combat is sheer action and fun, focus is on fast fighting of bosses. My main complaints are the Burst Arts lead to you spamming the best move instead of using your full arsenal and that GE3 feels pretty barren in the content area at this moment (100 missions and various patches incoming over the next year though.)
I prefer the God Eater series just from a sheer FUN perspective. Than MHW. Than Toukiden 2 for your hunting fix.
EDIT - just saw you put MHO, not MHW. Doh. Odd question since you can't play it anywhere but china.
