Difference in burst levels?
So I want to start out by stating that I don't actually own GE3 and only playing GE2:Rage burst right now (and loving it - on difficulty 12 atm) - didn't realize GE3 was coming so I took a long break. Anyway, for the longest time I've been curious what the difference in burst levels even does. Obviously burst vs non-burst is pretty substantial, but what's the real difference between burst 1 and burst lv 3 for example? I'm assuming higher burst level is better, but why? Ideally looking for specific values if those are known, but if not that's cool too. I did some digging and couldn't really find anything answering this question.

Also, random secondary question - I've been a massive fan of short blades even in GE1 (when melee wasn't even that good), and with blood arts in 2 I love it even more, but I saw something about short blades not being as good in 3. Are they worse than using them in 1, or just not that great comparatively?

Thanks!

Higher burst means less stamina drained, faster attacking and devouring.
Plus the link systems strengthen.
Some skills only activate at X levels of burst.

It also affects oracle reserve auto gain amount and stamina restoration.

They arent worse than in God Eater 1, this is just personal preference but theres better weapons out there.

However if you like them, use them.
They arent my cup of tea but each weapon comes with their own special effects that change your attacks that you can mix match.
You have your Dash changers, ground attack changers and air attack changers.
You can equip one of each and further boost them with extra effects that change how the attack works further, such as shooting Oracle rays out the ground in to a pillar.

For example the Boost Hammer step attack you can change in to a tornado and then jump and smash for great deals of damage.
This is one of the new skills you can equip, or you can use something entirely different.

alot of weapons got boosted after a balance update. short blade was always pretty strong even when the game first came out. however the top 3 were heavy moon, buster blade and hammer when it comes to efficiency. the biting edge was gimmicky, weak and hard to use compared to the other weapons. not really saying that it is impractical, it can get you your large aragami kill just fine but a bit weak compared to other weapons. after the rebalance patch, the biting edge is now a respectable weapon. currently the scythe seems to be strongest as it did get the biggest boost in damage. but who cares about damage or utility. as long as you find the weapon fun, just use it. theres nothing really stopping you from trying more than one weapon type.

No, they are good. But you need to know how to use them well. Especially Rampaging Comet is very hard to use. You need predict aragami movements otherwise short blade very fun to play.
Short Blade isn't weak but other weapons are op. HM and BB are very easy to use.
Especially BB, high damage at the atk speed of ~Short Blade.

If you want fast mission/grinding HM/BB way to go. If you don't mind the time anything else is fine. I like use CS against marduk and I use SB time to time because its fun. HM and BB for speed runs or grind.

Check the videos here, he uses almost all weapons on different aragami. It might help you get better understanding of each weapons weakness and strenghts.
