- Early missions are SUPER easy. Stupid easy. The difficulty keeps ramping up as the story progresses, and even keeps going up after that though.
- Not sure what you mean by "Key". If you're being reductive you can boil down monster hunter to "hit it until it stops" too, right? Aragami do have elemental weaknesses, have several different hitboxes for different parts, some parts can be broken, some can't. Each part can have different slash/pierce/crush. It's deffinitly not mindless hitting.
- By Kit you mean items usable during battle? They're mostly there for you to carry heals, let's be honest. A stun granade, status heal, maybe a paralizing trap if you're feeling spicey, but mostly healing.
- Don't have much to compaire to. God Eater deffinitly suffers from too many "recollors". Sometimes even stronger Aragami are basically previous Aragami with 1 or 2 new attacks and a glow up. I did enjoy learning enemy attacks and weaknesses though.
- Not really. I mean all weapons have light and heavy attacks, but they have different damage types, hitboxes, ranges, power. Some are slower, some are faster. Some require you to use their mechanics more, some less. Some are simpler, some are more complicated. Nothing is rocket sciance, but you can get decent depth if you dig into it.
- Plot's very "anime", deffinitly. If you play the previous games you get more info about the world then you get from just playing GE3 and even though they try to justify a lot with science jargon it requires a lot of suspension of disbelief. It might not be your style, but it's fun if you manage to jsut roll with it.
Some weapons have more variety than others, such as shifting forms and such. But otherwise it's very much the Light attack + Heavy attack, press different number of times to combo of many other games.
If you come from another game like this (MHW) chances are that you are well versed with the genre so the first half of the game will be very easy.
After beating the main story the difficulty ramps up more and hunts take longer, there are also some special scenarios like the assault missions and such that offer more challenge in another way.
But yeah, big numbers, fancy- fast combat, streamlined systems and lots of mobility. Easy to get into and may seem less complex that MHW.
Fights in God Eater 3 tend to take 5-10 minutes rather than the 15-30+ minutes MHW and Iceborne in particular throw at you.
My knowledge isn't comprehensive, but I don't think GE 3 weapons have combos like some of the MHW ones, but the Burst Arts lets you customize your playstyle in a way that arguably makes up for that.
The story is...kind of a mixed bag, though it's very much a YMMV sort of thing. The Hounds as an adoptive family perservering through an often dark and hostile world through sheer badassery and their devotion to each other is a neat dynamic the game sets up pretty well.
However, I don't feel like the game resolves those darker themes very well. As the first half-hour alone shows, the authorities in GE 3 are often pretty terrible people who do pretty terrible things and the story just kind of...*tells* you things are get better through the power of friendship.
If said individuals and authorities were more morally gray I could roll with that, but its written, there's one or two irredeemable heads that really should have rolled at some point, but just...don't. Conflicts or world-building that could have been entire plots in their own right kind of just get glossed over, which makes me think the writers might have bitten off a bit more than they could chew.
1. It’s basically just a fighting game type, so combos and stuff are pretty clear for ppl who can’t read other languages to play the game.
2. It’s an JRPG, and a lot of JRPG are budget gaming and fan services. (This game sadly lack a lot of things that previous games have due to development for CodeVein). Btw, MHW isn’t an JRPG as it was considered like ff games that aiming for global audiences, not like Tales of games and a lot of export games from Japan (only the first MH was pretty in the same category until Capcom decided for a change)
3. This game likely about visual effects and art style, I think not many ppl that actually hate the art style here with Code vein in the same category. MHW making you feel realistic while this one is just powerhouse protagonist like all anime do. I can give additional point to the OST music here actually. MHW remind me of Dragon Dogma for reasons...
4. If you play this game like a regular MH, you will likely be disappointed about it. Simply because it has no freaking traveling and everything is instanced queue up. GE games have been known for easier to play than MH games. However, if you play it on expert level, I might not sure if it is the same case with MHW as two games are significant different. All the endgame things here are basically ppl challenge themselves to perfect guard every freakin missions and Aragami type. (There is a level spike between endgame contents so after you see the ending, you might consider to be prepared for Crimson Ashland missions of sort)
5. I can’t say anything for you as you aren’t doing endgame contents or solo contents (which I think most ppl who make a post like this usually in this situation with the game itself, yes I can blame it but I have to think for ppl who can’t stand traditional games).
What making this game different from MH that it’s an one man experience rather than a coop group hunting. Pretty much, the only time you need ppl is when you want to save time to clear contents. Like Code vein, AI here is the selling point compare to Monster Hunter as a single title game. Anything that require a party in game is likely lower your difficulty to a large amount of level. One of the reason I think why this game successfully stand out from team play which make more casual folks and others who like something a bit lighter experience to enjoy.
(From my guess, you probably won’t like anything that soft heart like Atelier, Kingdom Heart, Neptunia, or something with life of slice games so I won’t say further for them as they are for different type of audiences. Though, I might be wrong here so sorry for this...)
Anyway, it kinda rude to make a headlight title for this with a chance that someone will look up and read it. Pretty much I see a lot of folks with attitude on Genshin forum using these words which kinda insult to ppl who you aren’t aware of and can be called for trolls (this is not main account btw but I usually use it for all steam forum discussions).
As for what you are looking into this game, it’s pretty much just an anime aesthetic fighting game style. Items and prepare are secondary. Unlike Monster Hunter, however, it allowed you to fight with minimum upgrade gear, which is the really challenge for endgame as your skills are more important than your gear. All the gear passive and stuff only make your game easier. It’s funny but ridiculous that the real god eater from all the series only use basic gear with minimum upgrade. Pretty much that just the way how the game and DarkSoul games work.
That doesn't mean I didn't liked it though, different strokes and styles for different people and I LOVE God Eater 3's hidden mechanics.
Plus, I disliked how cheap MHW's monsters can be with their bullsh!t stunlocks and impossible-to-avoid one-hit kills while God Eater 3 tends to be you and the monster one-upping one another.
By mastering Perfect Guard (it's a good SKILL mechanic, may I mind you), you can straight up block at the right time to avoid getting hurt by...pretty much anything, if you can atleast pay attention and have GOOD arcade reflexes, then it's the perfect counter against K.O hits and it's even more cathartic than just relying on something like i-frames dodging like in Dark Souls.
While stunlocking isn't as bad as in MHW, it still sucks, but atleast it's not given to every single monsters including a damn mosquito.
Oh, and you're given CUSTOM-MADE squadmates, guess which ones has AI Teammates that can heal you while you're 0% health.
I played Monster Hunter World before I even played God Eater 3, and I still love the hell outta God Eater 3, so no, no thanks MHW fans! Your cheap tactics won't convince me!
you're comparing monster hunter world with difficulty? i face rolled monster hunter world when it came out.
monster hunter world isnt even difficult. it's the tank like controls that you have to grow acustom to and gamers let the monster hunter games have crap controls.
and you come in the game with a fully stacked team. me and my boys find this game easy. yes any game that has a fully stacked team is easy. god forbid people play solo and not be carried.
wow speaking of monster hunter Elitis, just disgusting.
I got bored of world after a few hours, the fighting on that game feels like moving to molasses, and complaining about story is rich when in all monster hunters the story is, there is an elder monster, go kill it plot wise, go feel superior to other places buddy.
