Also like alot of games like Monster Hunter or Toukiden, it's a grindfest. You have to grind the same monster multiple times to get the required materials to craft or upgrade. So you may have to have some patience there.
Way I see it, it comes down if you like God Eater's gameplay. I suggest watching some videos to get a feel of it. And if you have say some friends who owns it, maybe you can go to their house to give it a try.
I personally like God Eater's gameplay, so I'd say yeah, I'd recomend this over similar games.
