GE3's OST style leaves out a lot of what was in Rage Burst. I don't like it.
tl;dr at the bottom

Rage Burst had more than a few styles of music in it. It had pop, some electronica/trance, orchestra, and a buttrock opening song that was great for the style of character and animation design. There was also the post-Spiral Tree song "To an Endless Battle" which was probably the most unique song out of the whole game. Then there's the iconic briefing music NEO Briefing.

GE3's music sounds mostly the same, with the exception of BiSH's "stereo future" (the OP for the game) and Nemesis, Ra's boss theme. Everything else is mostly orchestra with different moods.

Not to say that I really hate orchestra, though. I'm more of a metal guy myself (I picked Male Voice 20 in Rage Burst, kek) and would've preferred more songs that would make people go "2edgy4me" or generally anything that Rage Burst and Resurrection had in terms of style. The electronica isn't there.

The very first rock song that plays has lyrics that sound like my younger sibling wrote it after discovering action/adventure anime. And even then, "Nemesis" is strictly worse than "Blood Rage" and they're the same style. Blood Rage has better diction and has less declarative statements compared to Nemesis.

I don't mean to hate on this OST too much because the orchestra parts /are good/.

tl;dr BiSH is good at music but the style doesn't fit the game's art style or animation. "Nemesis" is just plain bad. Nothing from this game's OST stands out as super good compared to Resurrection or Rage Burst - especially Rage Burst.

have to agree that GE3 music is a bit lacking. but we might get more in future updates. GE2: rage bust is a more refined version of GE2. this time they arent going to make a burst or a rage, ressurection ect.. they are just going to update the base game so you keep your progress. the bgm in ge3 just isn't as memorable as in ge2:rb, none of it really stood out, might just be the nostalgia bug biting me. but then again i didnt beat the game yet so what i say isnt credible.

Agreed. I wouldn't mind a more metal sound for GE's music. Maybe something more pre-metal, like a Jethro Tull sort of sound.

well, I haven't yet brought the 3rd game but I really love the OST or the previous 2 series my favourite song happens to be the butterflies temptation.

the only thing that I think RB did bad compared to resurrection or the burst would be character design and character storey arcs. other that than the cut scenes and character lack a lot of polish that I expected to be there.

or maybe its nostalgia. I played the god eater burst on my PSP a long time ago but I just finished resurrection and rage burst and when I say I just finished it I mean it was exactly a week ago.

resurrection seemed to be better than I remembered while rage burst fell short a few placed but in my opinion its mechanically superior, even though I miss predator style.

Music really matters only in rythm games

necro bump!!!. music matters, not only for rythm games, it can set the mood or invoke various emotions in certain settings. why do you think people listen to upbeat music with fast tempo when working out, because it can boost their morale. in can reinforce the image of themselves doing a specific task. it is also used to boost concentration. sometimes people play specific stages over and over again because the epic music associated with the epic boss fight. try playing games with it's bgm completely turn off and see how much of a difference it makes in your immersion.

This game has a perfect soundtrack because everything Go Shiina composes is pure gold.

I agree seeing how long these game can be 150 hours each to complete story+all hard and difficult mission till 12th difficulty. the music is very much essential.

this series requires precise movements and perfect timings to pull off so much so that in the endgame if you aren't prepared the most you can be a blitz can 1 shot you most of the time and there are still stronger origami that comes later. because of these reasons the game might as well have been a super hard click time events rhythm game.

the only rhythm game that i have ever played would either be the Kinect dance central 3 which was motion-based and hatsune miku project diva x demo on ps vita in which out of 5 i only like one song (the raspberry monster) it can be quite hard to like songs that aren't in a language you speak though despite my being a native Hindi(main Indian language) i like prefer English songs and listen to many Japanese songs as well.

While it's true that these game have great OSTs i generally rate songs on the basis of how much would i like to hear them so, for instance, a doomsday song even if masterfully composed would get a rating of 2 or 1 stars simply because it isn't something i would like to listen to in my normal listening session.
GE2RB, best OST.

That stupid Nemesis song makes me want to kick babies, not cut giant monsters to ribbons.
The rest of the basic levels, the background tunes are actually good, but I do miss the wubstep "Something Butterfly/s?" and other crazy tunes, like when you trash Chrome Gawain.

I am pretty sure you are talking about the butterfly's invitation or butterfly's temptation. both of them are the name of the same song though i don't know why this song has alternate names. regardless it is one of my favorite songs

The game could have the worst OST imaginable but it would be a non factor if they remixed or reused some old themes. Now, it isn't like that, the OST is nice, but a far thing from the first 2 games. Nemesis and Ruler of Ruin are the only memorable songs in the game imho. Why drop the wonderful themes from 1 and 2? Kyuubi seems just another monster without its creepy theme. Chrome Gawain's theme was my favorite in the whole series. And ffs, forget all i've said, but a GE game with Dyaus Pita yet it has no No Way Back? What?

Definitely agree that Music matters, and GE3's bgm setup kinda turns me off, specifically that Ra theme. It's not even an aragami that is pivotal to the story yet they gave it a solo voiced bgm. I can tolerate it once during the story mission but for it to play by default on every Ra mission kinda breaks the immersion for me.
I know it has been a thing even for the first GE but that worked well for me because Dayus Pita IS a pivotal element both gameplay challenge and story wise and his theme does not play by default after the story mission.
IMO they should either: Remove Ra's theme or Give it to Anubis or Give every Ashborn their own badass theme... and please... put this theme back.
