Do I need to play God Eater 1 and 2 to play 3?

I would say no. I think only 1 character from the previous 2 games makes an appearance in 3 and the world has changed a fair bit.

That being said it wouldn't hurt if you played 1 and 2 or watched a lets play on YouTube for the story.

God Eater 3 is fairly independent from the rest of the series, even topographically.

Some of game terms, mechanical-technical and do-don't stuffs can be learned better in earlier games. So give them some try.

I tried playing and beating god eater 1 and 2. Couldnt. Snd no help. So i gave up on story and game. But i did like them.

If they are so good why is no o e un lobby to play with to help beat the story.

I finished both alone, wasn't easy tho. If you need help you can always try an Discord (ex: God Eater International) or Steam group (ex: Fenrir). I think most players uses a Private Lobby, and there's the Region Lock thing.

What? I solo'd both games just fine,and I am by no means an amazing player. The friendly AI only sucks in the last few ranks simply because they can't into blocking. Eventually just use them as bait until they die and don't waste hp raising them unless there's a lull.
The reason you don't find people in the lobby is because it doesn't show games in progress for some ungodly reason. So it always looks empty.



On topic, they're all fairly independent. Same setting, familiar faces show up, but the stories themselves are separate and the main cast is new.

GER (God Eater 1) has a waaay better story, however it's given to you in a LOT smaller doses. GE2 just feels newer and has a ton more content with a story that's either amazingly fun or completely stupid depending on how much you enjoy anime absurdity.

imho the "hardest" are the fast ones like the Gawain.

and even then just takes knowing the pattern of when they stop for a bit to hit em then.

and learning the bullet editor is important if you cant beat em in melee.


I like GE:R for the alternate devour styles while GE;2RB had better flow imho.


Also I am super sad that they remved the blastgun from theg ame...means Kanon wont be in it even as a dlc character T~T. (i need my battlecrazy medic!)

Just make the uber blast cannon bullet and the games turn to easy mode
Or flip on the perilous missions with venom attacks on your npc members, one shots everything once the poison kicks in

God Eater 2 Rage Burst is still on sale on humble budle (13€).. and the 'need to play' is a no I guess.. depending on if GE3 have decent tutorials.. except getting used to the insane controls.

Not insane as in hard, or really tight to combo, more to get used to have swap weapon-form and run on the same button.. the same button you activate speacial attacks with.. and you block, step and pickup on the same button etc etc..

The entire control scheme is like being stuck inside the inventory handling of the first Gothic game.. even when you got a bit used to it on a pad! (as keyboard made it even harder)

Get GE2RB and you get GER free, watch the anme, (even then you hardly have a clue what's going on).. and pray they haven't changed much for the worse in the controls in GE3

God Eater Resurrection is very good. Don't bother with 2 though you can only get Resurrection by purchasing 2, haha.
