I forgot to upgrade or craft something new after looking at it during the tutorial.

So though the OP isnt wrong you dont play this for difficutly if coming from older MH as a comparison.
That said I will be using the advice here of leaving the AI at home and then feed back on what that was like.

I am enjoying the faster more frantic combat.
Especially with GE 3's smart NPCs
The only one that actually gave me any real rouble was the one multi monster fight with the Scorpian Knight. But once I cleared the trash that was spamming ranged attacks from all sides it smoothed out.
Still no Deaths and honestly it added a minute or 2 to the times but the attacks are far more predictable solo. So you I find I can aim and land my big attacks far easier.
I will say that the AI is fairly competent so it does make the fights easier since you need to focus on evasion less and can just attack more when they are around.

I like that the combat gives you so many more options to do things. It has that over MH which only has the dodge and generally it breaks the flow of attacks.
I'll still pick up GE3 eventually when I want something more more chill but I was reminded that Iceborne is around the corner.
But yeah I wouldnt mind about 20% or more HP on the fights so it lasts a fair while more.
But difficulty spike existed. Just like MHW where the HR49 T-Kirin forces you to build defense. GE3 difficulty spike can be found in several missions, mainly if you trying to achieve SSS(+ if solo) rank.
You may also want to wait until "perilous mode" alike introduced in GE3. Back in GE2RB, this mode makes everything goes hell unless you are glitching or using the rage burst. Creeps may take 1/2 ~ one shot you, their HP is so high that it could take several hits from even best damage build. Not to mention bosses.
