how does Playthrough 2.5 actually work??
so far, i'm currently playing through the main DLC's (Zombie/Claptrap/Knoxx) on Playthrough 2, saving the Vault and King Wee-Wee missions for last (particularly the latter one for a reason).

So my question is this:

How does Playthrough 2.5 differ from Playthrough 2???

It isn't another playthrough, just enemies adjusted to your level. From the wiki:

When The Vault is first entered in Playthrough 2, all enemies throughout Pandora will see their level increased to 48-52. Items will likewise be encountered at maximum levels, with the vast majority being level 48. This setting is frequently referred to by the player community as "Playthrough 2.5" or "Playthrough 2+". The goal of this world modification is to allow players to fight balanced enemies anywhere.

Playthrough 2.5 is unlocked as soon as the mission Find Steele completes upon entering the Vault. Killing the Destroyer, or leaving it alone, has no effect on this global difficulty change.

Missions
No new missions are available at this point, but unfinished missions can still be started or completed. The quality of mission rewards are not actually increased compared to classic Playthrough 2, but the higher level enemies can lead to better mission-specific loot. It is a unique chance to encounter higher level unique enemies, or high quality chests. Some missions can be useful to retain for better loot in post Playthrough 2, such as:

King Tossing: For King Wee Wee's Wee Wee's Super Booster
This ♥♥♥♥♥ is Payback: For Kyros' Power
This ♥♥♥♥♥ is Payback: For the Typhoon
Purple Juice!: For Chiquito Amigo
Bandit Treasure: X Marks the Spot: For the Dahl Headlands one-time only Red Chest reward.

ah, gotcha. Does the enemy-level increase, upon finishing the Vault mission in Playthrough 2, also effect the enemies in the DLC maps too? If so, this could potentially help me farm for upgraded versions of my current weapons.

I think it does, but I know people do knox first because it doesn't scale like the others.

What's with the worry about over-leveling in that guide? Is it scale-related, or just set up so that you won't be a demigod against all the enemies?

Also, from the way the guide was worded, the arena DLC doesn't net much XP. I know about the skill point you get for beating all arenas and then some, but I figured completing them would net cash/ XP. Unless they do, but that would go against the idea of not being overleveled.

I only ever got to beat the main game (playthough 1) on 360, so I've been trying to figure out all this Playthrough 2/ 2.5/ scaling stuff. Thanks for the link.

Yeah, I think he is trying to stay around the level of the enemies, so that the chests and drops actually give usefull items, and aren't underleveled. So he would skip some side missions to keep the levels right. I guess that way you still get good xp from enemies all the way and when you do part 2.5 you keep on leveling easily.

The moxxi dlc doesn't give xp for killing enemies and your proficiencies don't change either.

interesting!! i'm currently at Level-60 myself, because I had farmed the various enemies for the numerous challenges in my Challenges Log, while extremely time-consuming, it was very well worth the farming.

actually, when you complete the main story in the Knoxx DLC, you'll get that mission titled "You Will Die", which is when you'll get the chance to fight Crawmerax head on. It's killing him that makes the enemy levels in the "Claptrap's New Robot Revolution" DLC to scale in the Level-60 range (at least in Playthrough 1), which explains why I do the Knoxx DLC last.

UPDATE: Well I just finished the main story mission in the base game (and grabbed King Wee-Wee's Super Booster after that), and i'm only farming the 5 Level-63 WereSkag bosses from the "Zombie Island" DLC long enough to get the Incendiary and Shock Artifact upgrades for my Scorpio Turret before heading into the Claptrap and Knoxx DLC's
i finished the mission ''Find Steele '' , i also killed the destroyer but nothing appears to me. It shows playthrough1 and playthrough2. Can u help me?
There is only playthrough 1 and 2. But after beating vault monster in pt 2 it will change into "2,5". It means all monsters will scale to your level. But there still will be only pt1 and pt2.

plus, it's also noted that it's strongly recommended to do the "King Tossing" mission on 2.5, as King Wee-Wee will not only scale to your level, but also has a chance to drop a better version of his Super Booster shield.
And u can add that it is one of the best shields in the game.

except it's the BEST shield in the game (especially if modified with the right parts) and it's an absolute MUST when fighting Crawmerax
Well to glitch crawmerax you dont have to got this shield.

actually you still need it, even when glitching Crawmerax (which is hilariously referenced in one of the Headhunter DLC's for "Borderlands 2"), due to him spitting his acidic globs right at you if he gets too close, for which you need Transfusion grenades.
Well i am glitching crawmerax a lot recently and I am killing him easly without it. i had more trouble with aiming his back though.
