Sucks that I cant change class
First time I played the game I chose mordecai. After 2 or 3 hours I stopped playing the game and left it for a couple of months. Picked it up to play again 2 or 3 weeks ago and just finished it with a level 36 soldier. I liked the game but nearly the end the game became too easy. I was just destroying nearly every enemy from any distance by using a burst assault rifle. Occasionally I would use a launcher, shotgun, and sniper rifle, but wasnt mandatory. Same with the soldier's turret special weapon and some grenades.

I would like to play with a different class, but I dont want to start from the very very start. I read that even on playthrough 2 one is not allowed to change your main character. The girl with the elemental abilities look fun to use or maybe the brute that plays better at cqc. My strats would be different this time and this will be more fun than just relying on my boring assault rifle.

Any suggestions for me?

There is a save editor out there called "Gibbed" I believe. That may allow for some of what you're asking, if you create a new character and then edit the save. I haven't used it myself, so I can't verify that it would allow you to jump ahead in the game without issue.

I feel that allowing you to completely change your class would take away from the game. It'd take out all the effort, because you could just swap over to an already leveled Berserker from say, a high level Hunter, as opposing to starting a new character and slowly building them up over time. Which a big part of the replayability of not just Borderlands, but a lot of class and loot-based RPGs.

I just want to change class so I can use different abilities and appropiate weapons for him/her. I want to keep my level gained ... thats the whole point of me making the thread. I dont want to create a character with a 61 level and stomp on everyone. That would take the fun away from the game for sure.

The game has a playthrough 2 much like true vault hunter mode in the second. Go play through it and you won't be destroying enemies so easily.

The bad thing of that is that I will have to do the same quests again. I havent touch the dlc yet so I was hoping I could start them with my level 36 character but with the ability to choose a siren class for the dlcs playthrough. That way the game will feel very refreshing for me since Im playing a total different character than Roland, and in different areas doing different quests.

I read on the wiki that on 3 of the dlcs the first mission is level 15. Does that mean that I can start playing these dlc when Im around the same level?
I can start a completely fresh game, choose a siren, then do some missions here and there to level her up till she is around level 15ish. Then I can tackle the dlcs.

Does that sound like a good plan?

I didn't think you wanted an uber character or anything. I just feel that restarting on a new character is just part of the replayability of the game.

Don't misinterpret this as me giving you flak for "ruining" your game or anything, heh. Just my 2 cents. Your file, your business.

Do that then. All DLC's for Borderlands 1 and 2 have enemies starting at level 15 and scale based on what level you begin them.

Im not sure at what level Ill be when I finish all 2 or 3 of those dlcs, but I think I must be around level 35 in order to not get destroyed in "the secret armory of general knoxx" dlc. If Im still underleved with my siren playthrough, I will just play it with my level 36 roland.

Thanks peeps for your input. :)

Gibbed only works for BL2, if I remember correctly. BL1 has another Save Editor that is even better - WillowTree. It allows you to redo quests, finish quests, set your own skills, SDU's and everything. Download it if you want to change your class.

I started a fresh playthrough with Lilith and have been using only elemental smgs and handguns, while using more grenades and phasewalk. Im having a really good time. Currently Im at level 10 and just got access to vehicles. 5 more levels and Im good to go to start the dlcs.
Unless I want to keep playing the main story with her ... lol

Once you played through the main campaign + the main story arc of Knoxx in PT2, you'll unlock PT 2.5, which will scale everything relative to your level.

I really like this game. Like it enough to play it again for the second time and thats something I havent done in years. But to play it for the 3rd or 4th time? ... thats just too much for me. Especially since I havent played Borderlands 2 yet. I dont have the time available I would want anymore ... gotta pay the bills u know?

Then take your time to do it. Trust me, all the Legendaries and Pearls are worth it. Playthrough 2.5 is fun times in a nutshell. Praise the Hellfire and Masher.

funny you should mention the WillowTree save editor, because a fellow gamer on here introduced me to it, and after fiddling around with it, I can now build my own HellFire SMG's (might build my own Defiler's next) and purposely make all my weapons-and-items overpowered by merely editing their levels
