The sequel is lower price than the original
That's disappointing.

It's not for me. The Borderlands 2 GOTY is priced higher than the Borderlands 1 GOTY. And it's even more when you add the non-trivial DLC content that isn't included in the Borderlands 2 GOTY.

Check the GOTY page itself (not the basic borderlands page) or the Borderlands 2 page and see what the price is on the "Borderlands 2 basic + Borderlands GOTY" combo pack. It's much cheaper for my region for that combo than on it's own.

Yes, i see, B1 GOTy is 9.89, while B2:GOTY is 9.99

but the original version is more expensive than the vanilla sequel, so we are all right.
Broso Jun 22, 2014 @ 6:44pm
Well over here it is 6.59€ for Borderlands 1 basic and 7.49€ for Borderlands 2 basic.

Why they cannot set a global universal price is beyond me.

kingjames488 Jun 23, 2014 @ 12:23am
cuz they scam u wit the DLC on the second one...

easy,,the first game is better than borderlands 2

yeah, I got BL2 for two friends, @ $9.99 on sunday, then a few hours later, the BL2 GOTY was same price, I am complaining to steam about this, I doubt, I will get anywhere, but worth a try. I think I am done with steam purchases, I have found lower prices on Greenman Gaming Or just wait for the summer sales, 2015.

Just had to bump this thread as 2K marketeers dropped the ball on this sale.

I would buy Borderlands without the DLC for 5 bucks. But I'm not paying more for that than for borderlands 2 without the DLC.:wololo:
Workshed Jun 29, 2014 @ 9:05pm
I needed to play them both so I got the Borderlands GOTY + Borderlands 2 for $9.99 deal.

Probably gonna be a year before I even get to BL2

then stop going full ♥♥♥♥♥♥ and buy the sequel during steam sales itll be like $3.84
BlackRainbow Jun 30, 2014 @ 4:14am
Well, with BL1:GOTY you get -EVERYTHING-.
BL2's GOTY isn't a true "gold" or "complete edition"... you'll be missing: the level cap unlock pack 2, all the head hunter mini-missions and every single friggin' skin (around 30 if I'm not mistaken).
So you can't really compare the prices as one is complete and the other one is not.
Broso Jun 30, 2014 @ 5:26am
The skins are not that important. It's a stupid milking strat, but most publishers are doing that nowadays, sadly... As for the other stuff, I also think they should've included the second level cap increase and the headhunts in the GOTY. It DOES feel a bit like a rip-off.

During the sale, buying the BL2 GOTY and all the "essential" missing DLC (that is, not the skins) resulted in a total of around 18 bucks over here. I guess that is okay. Then again, a game that is as old as BL2 is should not price at more than around 10 bucks during a big sale. So, looks like their strategy for keeping the price up worked out.

Edit:

And think of all those people who bought BL2 full-price at release for like 50-60 bucks, then paid another 20 or so for the season-pass and another 20 for the stuff that was not in the season pass, lol. THOSE are the people that really got ripped off. It's really sad. It's a nice game, but the marketing strategy behind it is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

Yeah.
I truly hate skins as DLC. Especially when it's like one texture for 2$. But if I find them nice, I could spend around 5$ for 30 of them... not for 18+€, since, as you said, the GOTY + essential DLC costs about the same.

EDIT: I mean, how cool was it to unlock crazy characters after completing the game... as a reward??? To keep you playing the game and liking it even more? Example: Spider-Man in THPS2... or even the palette/sprite swap in Super Mario World.
