100% fix for General Protection Fault

Step 1. First go to your library on steam and right click on "Borderlands".

Step 2. Then click on "properties".

Step 3. Then click on the "Local Files" tab.

Step 4. Then click on "Browse Local Files".

Step 5. Click on and open the "Binaries" folder.

Step 6. Find the "cudart.dll" file and MAKE A COPY OF IT.

Step 7. Rename the COPY OF IT to "physxcudart_20" and hit the "Enter" key found on your keyboard.

Step 8. Realize that you're stupid if you couldn't find things because you were looking for quotation marks in the file name " " or if you tried to rename the copy file with quotation marks.

Step 9. Play the game.

Somebody seriously tell a mod to friggin lock this and not delete it so people can find it. This was a pain in the butt to figure out.

in whole internet offer only one solution with physxcudart_20.dll.
It not working in my case.

Thanks. For some reason I had to run this fix even though I'd already been playing for 17 hours before. I'd stopped playing for a few months and when I went back started getting "General Protection Error". Copying and renaming the file as indicated fixed it. So weird that it could be working fine for a while and then stop.

I had the same general protection error only on msvcr90.dll with an gimage error, in my case it seems to have been some faulty save, so after I cleansed the MySaves/borderlands folder in the Windows Documents section, it didn't crash any longer on my borderlands. So people might want to check that too if they still can't get the game to the character selection screen and have that specific error. I needed to turn off cloud saving too temporarily (otherwise the faulty save data gets downloaded on starting the game). Guess you could try alt-tabbing and deleting before the character selection screen though. Maybe that helps some other people.
