Destroyer Drops Junk

First played BL1 in about 2015. Just replayed to the Vault. I killed the Destroyer, although it took many attempts until I went out and got a much more powerful rocket launcher and re-read some old accounts of how to kill it---shooting off the tentacles and putting rockets down its gullet.

After it died, I found some ammunition, a few bucks, and some mediocre green weapons. It looks like there are supposed to be 7 chests that spawn after it dies. What did I miss?

i think the chests only spawn when you re-fight Destroyer again. not as part of the story. haven't tried it yet since i'm doing the dlc i missed last time i played

I'm concerned that the Vault won't open or the loot drop if you don't kill the boss on the first try, or within a certain period of game time. How would you re-start the fight?

Those chests only spawn in the enhanced edition, this is the older version which doesn't have the updates from enhanced edition

The ultimate battle of the game, and the boss drops ammo and some green and white guns? Kind of insulting.

Go kill Craw instead, get a good skullmasher, preferably a 400x6+ version of it and you will reap the good sow.
