Wondering how easy it is to play Borderlands 1 on two separate PCs, one steam account, via LAN

I know it's easy to get BL2 set up via LAN with just one steam account by putting both PCs in offline mode. But i couldn't find any details if it worked as easily for BL1. I recently got a new gaming laptop and i wanted to play the BL series with my SO along side my home gaming PC, i fired up BL2 since i already owned it, and got the LAN to work pretty quickly, I wanna start her on BL1 but don't want to waste the money if it's not gonna work the same way. Sorry if this has been posted before but i couldn't find the answers after a few quick searches. Thanks.

Yeah I'd hope it works just the same, just wanting some confirmation before i go ahead and buy it.

There is a workaround, if the game didn't work properly write me back here and I'll try to remember how I did it :)
