Borderlands Granting tool no longer works.

went to finally update my retail copy to steam (forgot a long time ago and BL3 reminded me) but the granting tool was locked yesterday. Mod/Devs, anything i can do to prove i have a retail copy?

Just came across this too. Borderlands 3 and remaster hype reminded me about my retail GOTY.
Is it coincidence they discontinued the granting tool one day before the remaster announcement?

The fact that the granting tool mentioned in the link you posted is not working anymore is the very reason the OP started this thread...

On topic though, that sucks. but really wouldnt be surprised if there is nothing you can do besides put in a support ticket with Gearbox or maybe Valve.

EDIT: Oh and forgot about praying, lots and lots of praying to the video-game gods.

This is kinda ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ right? The disk requires a check with Securom that no longer works, taking away the steam option makes the original game inaccessible...or am I missing something?

https://www.patches-scrolls.com/borderlands.php is that site helpful? you mention the securom, but i remember one of the patches they deployed deactivated the securom. not usre which one is it. but that site has patch 1.4.1 to download for cd/dvd versions. I understand this in no way helps with the granting tool issue, but the patch there might atleast let you play the game with your retail copy.

Oh man, hate to be a huge bringer of bad news. just found this tidbit from 2k website https://support.2k.com/hc/en-us/articles/202552173--PC-Borderlands-GameSpy-Shutdown-and-Conversion-Tool it appears 2k, not Gearbox is who decided to pull the plug on the granting tool. it appearently went offline last month. could have atleast sent a warning out to gaming media outles imo.

Edit: read it wrong, it says update feb 27th 2019 at the top, so i thought that was the shutdown date. but in the brief message it says march 27th 2019 it went offline. must have been a typo or something.

No worries, not even that mad...just seems really scummy to end that the day before this announcement. I realize I have had years to do it but I didn't even realize it was a thing until I tried to install from disk and realized it doesn't work anymore.

It seems that on feb 27th they announced that the granting tool will be shut down in a month, on march 27th, which they did. But lets be real here: it's been 10 years since the release of Borderlands, you had more than enough time to use this tool.
