there are two, one on each side.
shoot it in the eye, that's it's Crit spot.
use a Class mod that has ammo regen, 'cause you're gonna use a lot of it.
Has every char a class mod with ammo regen?
Also:
I read, that enemy scaling starts, when entering the vault. Does this refer to the Destroyer too?
Roland has 3
Mordecai has 2
Lilith and Brick have 1
those are not including the ones from the Knoxx DLC.
What about the scaling? I read, it begins, when entering the Vault. Does the Destroyer scale too?

check everything. containers, vending machines, etc.
Different weapons have different shot/loading cycles. Use two, swap between them while one is recharging.
Shoot the purple tentacles when they spawn to stop the airborne needles being shot at you, then you can hide behind cover from the Destroyer's lazer beams and other attacks without worry. I think destroying those tentacles also spawned ammo as I was getting ammo packs drop near me. If you have perks that give you benefits when killing an enemy, those perks trigger when killing the tentacles.
Once all purple tentacles are destroyed you have a long time to just shoot at The Destroyer's Eye as much as possible until they spawn again. As long as you take cover when it shoots the lazer or whips you with its orange tentacles/tongue you will be fine. It becomes a battle of attrition but with infinite ammo and health due to regeneration you can do it.
In between the tentacles spawning I did run low on ammo for my other weapons, so I relied on my ammo regenrevolver until the tentacles spawned and I could get ammo drops again from killing them. Unless the revolver was causing these drops but I don't think it did, I think it was from killing the tentacles. It wasn't an exciting boss battle at all, just a long one, one revolver shot at a time.
Don't get close to the Destroyer, don't use melee, Although on my first playthrough as Brick I used the Sting Like a Bee ability where you shoot forward when you punch and glitched into the Destroyer's mouth where I couldn't take damage and just punched it's tonsils to death. I couldn't manage that on this playthrough so had to actually use some effort :/
But maybe I didn`t look closely.
