Skagzilla - Am I playing this wrong?

So I killed Skagzilla today for the first time. Am I doing something wrong? This boss felt like it was way too easy, too boring, too slow. I am playing on normal, it is my first play through, first time palying borderlands, should I up the difficulty, or does this boss just suck?

Like you just walk away from it and you are fine. I wasted a fair amount of ammo trying to work out how to kill it, that you shoot it in the mouth etc but it just felt uninspired, especially for a boss that was given its own arena.

Also it "gave up" and let me put it out of its misery. It realised that it sucked so bad next to me, so it just let me kill it :P Is glitching normal for this boss?

You Are Playing Playthrough 1 so enemies not higher than you. You can think this is a easy mode. When you finish the game you can start Playthrough 2 which enemies higher than you and more difficult to kill them.

Your lucky it glitched, also as said its no pushover on higher playthroughs.

Ok I was actually wondering about that. I heard this game is meant to be played multiple times at increasing diffculty. I thought that just meant, you play it on hard next time cause you start at a higher level/better gear.

I was confused cause I saw other posts asking how to defeat it, like it was a hard boss.

if you are under lvl20 without decent weapons he is tough, if you have done all sidequests first and are lvl22 with up to date gear he is pretty easy

I think I was level 20 when doing it.

It was less to do with the gear/level side of things, more to do with boss mechanics.

Like it jumped at you, to counter it, you seemed to be able to WALK out of the way.
It chases after you and you walk/run away.
It fires a beam and you can easily jump it.

but like others said, maybe it will be hard on future play throughs, which is unlikely since I will probably move on to BL2.

Use Sledge's Shotgun and shoot him in the mouth when he opens it, even when he does that roar animation. It will take some time, but the fight itself is pretty straight forward.

It was pretty tough for me, using repeaters, combat rifle and sniper. I used my sniper when he opened his mouth, and when I ran out of ammo, I used my corrosive repeater to whittle away some more health... then that ran out of ammo, and I swapped between my rocket launcher and combat rifle for the final stretch.

1-2 hits wiped out my shield, so a lot of the fight was just running in circles until that recharged.

I was playing as Mordecai, the Hunter - maybe with others it's easier? Or maybe I was just severely underleveled. I tend to have a LOT more trouble with the animal "bosses" like Skagzilla and Mothrakk and Widowmaker than I do a human boss like Sledge or Krom...

My bloodwing probably saved me in the fight, because his Swipe ability kept providing ammo drops.
