Iron ore?

How am I supposed to get iron ore when clismy pickaxe is unable to mine it?
Why deny a basic material needed for weapons while sending raids regularly?

when you beat the bat labyrinth you get a lightweight pickaxe which can mine it, then using the iron you can make the recipe for it in the forge by going as far right in the crafting tree (on forge) as possible

Dear Minicats,

Interesting, I'm playing the Nintendo Switch version of the game, and you are able to mine iron ore with the flimsy pickaxe, it just takes a couple more hits, but 3rdGamer is correct, you receive a lightweight pickaxe and lightweight axe as a reward.

Seriously? I got the key to that place and it's smack dab in the middle of a tier 5 island filled with high level nasties. How am I supposed to get to that?

You don't need the labyrinth. I figured the answer myself. You only need to find tier 2 island. The problem is it may not be the nearest to you spawn island. On a tier 2 island there is ore and it can be mined with basic pickaxes. But again, my tier 2 island did not have grass. So it was quite tedious to hop between 2 islands (which are not very close to each other).

Ultimately I don't play this game anymore. It is far from being a good survivor game.

Yeah, I also found out I had to basically sail across the entire map to find the appropriate island. Once there ore was widely available and easily mined (and the labyrinth not too bad and easily accessed), but I did have to go around the tier 5 island and through tier 5 waters over a considerable distance to reach it.

Annoying to hear that this island spawning arrangement is common.

I was really lucky then. I hit my 2nd island (2 star) on my 1st try by randomly sailing in one direction.
