You might have noticed that a lot of destructibles in dungeons drop sticks, wood slats and dirt... that's why!
You can do that in the ocean too, so hypothetically you can build bridges between islands if you have the patience.
Source: A tutorial message appeared for me saying how to do this, I think when I first entered a dungeons/labyrinth. But I actually had to look this up as I'd forgotten the message by the time I needed it!
And you need to hit each cog a few times: Hit it, wait until the cog stops turning, then hit it again. In that screenshot, it might even be possible to hit both cogs yourself, by quickly rolling between cogs to hit them multiple times.
I did end up needing to make a bridge in Lab I encountered a bit later though.
Yeah this was the issue. Had to hit them several times. I rolled across and ran back and forth wacking them until they stop turning. Eventually I got the timing down and it activated.
This is the only zelda puzzle like (can't think what else to call it) game that I've played which has you needing to do task multiple times. In most other I play through the years you hit an item once and it's done. Sure in some you may have to toggle between characters to hit to different one in the short moment they activate. Heck recently played Mages of Mystralia which has a lot of puzzles and some of which you have to be real quick between hitting the different block. So wasn't really considering have to hit both repeatedly.
Thanks both for the help.
