My overall impression of them (and take this with a grain of salt, as I think Mind Over Magic is still in early access) is that Spellcaster University is a much better realized and balanced game. It knows what it wants to be, and has it all figured out pretty well.
Mind Over Magic currently suffers from a LOT of grind and game imbalance. It's fun, but ultimately pretty frustrating. By the time that you're able to meet the requirements and afford to build the top tier rooms, there isn't much point to actually doing so. Visually, MoM is a prettier game, but when it comes to which one I actually enjoyed more, SU wins it.
That said, I'll probably go back and check in on MoM in half a year or so and see if they've sorted out the balance problems and made it any less grindy.
I thought the same, until I bought it. Its much more dungeon focused than this game. Between the two, this game has more casual replay value in my opinion. Other game is a lot grindier and easy to exploit the mechanics of. Also it has a lot more micromanagement which is fun for a while, till it gets old.
Feel free to direct any additional questions comparing the two games my way.
Spellcaster University actually feels like I'm building and running a magical school. MoM feels like I'm kidnapping kids and teaching them 'magic' in my fun house in the hills.
Seriously, MoM has absolutely zero synergy. Everything I do in that game feels pointless. There is no risk/reward. Resource gathering and room building is extremely tedious. And the threats are far more annoying than they are threatening, as if they are only there to punish you for trying to have any fun. I broke my 'never buy Early Access' rule to get it, because I enjoyed Spell Caster University so much, and I wound up regretting it almost immediately .
