Will there be a way to restart the game?

The game is intended as a one time experience. But technically, it's rather impossible for me to prevent restarts. So my answer is: sadly, yes.

This is off topic, but these are thoughts about basic mechanics.
I am interested in such an experimental game, but I'm afraid that the game with its timer will be tied to local computer time. If this works this way, then there will be a person who will take time forward and show the ending. I hope that such a “time” experiment will be tied to time on some server.

No, it will be not.

"There also needed to be a punishment for players who change the time on their computers—if you do, Shade will be sent to a dungeon. "

But:

"You can find books, which you can read in full, very much an in-game kindle. Those books are real books that are copyright free - for example, Moby ♥♥♥♥ or The Count Of Monte Cristo. For every page that you read, you get a small time-bonus of one minute, to simulate the relativity of time during activities."

Okay, but how do you restart? I usually jump in a game and test that everything is working before I start recording my game play, but I like to start from the start menu before anything begins. One click and the game started but I cannot find any way to clear the progress. I have uninstalled, deleted all game data from the apps, appdata, and registry keys, as well as deleting any cloud saves. But still when I reinstall and start the game, it picks up where it was. Where is the progress saved?

In Windows it saves in the appdata folder (C:Users/*username/AppData/LocalLow/StudioSeufz).

And what if my wife would like to play it, too.
Would we have to buy a second copy?
But I understand the intention behind no multiple savegames, etc. ANd it really makes the game for something special, as one aspect of manys.

Greetings from Hamburg to the devs!

Lol, Steam censors the word ♥♥♥♥ in Moby ♥♥♥♥. XD

Yeah, it worked this time. Not sure why it didn't seem to work the first couple of times. But definitely looking forward to getting into the game. Thanks.

IMHO that standpoint is extremely disrespecting towards people in various difficult situations in their life. Imagine someone buys your game, just loads in to check it out but ultimately happens to have almost no time at all during the next two years. You'd consider it to be okay that such a person paid you for your work and he/she didn't even get a chance to look at it thoroughly?

Some clarification:

The game doesn't end itself. The players still needs to take action to awaken the king.

If you end the game, there is an (hidden) option to reset. It's easy to find if you understand the spirit of the game.

Technically, you can always reset the game by turning off Steamcloud and deleting your saves.

Also, I'm always available to help players who have issues wth the game of any kind.

The game saves locally for every PC User. HOWEVER if you both play on the same Steam account, you should make 100% sure to disable the Steamcloud service for the game before ever starting it and never play the game with another Steamaccount (that potentially could have Steamcloud active) on the same PC account. Else Steam will end up overwriting your game saves. You can disable the Cloudsaving by right clicking on the game in the library view, then choosing properties->Updates and untick the Steamcloud box.

In case you want to backup them before trying anything out, the game saves are stored in:
C:\Users\*username*\AppData\LocalLow\Studio Seufz\The Longing

I know it's been a while, but could you tell me where this hidden reset option is?
