Issues with no optical drive?
I just ordered a new laptop and want to play Civ V Brave New World. I have Civ V installed from disc on the home desktop, but purchased and downloaded Brave New World expansion pack from Steam.
The new laptop has no optical drive to read my Civ V disc. How can I play Civ V Brave New World on the new laptop? Do I have to purchase a download of Civ V for the new laptop? Will I then have access to Brave New World from my Steam account?

You don't need optical drive, not even once. It doesn't matter which media you used to install your game, Civ V CD key is now linked to your account and you can download the game from Steam servers to your laptop. You wouldn't even need optical drive in your desktop computer, only thing you needed from your game box was the CD-key. Once the CD-key is linked to Steam you can always download the game from Steam serves, disc is useless, it's just for people with very bad internet connections... though there are multiple patches etc. to download even when installed from the disc.

You can't even purchase an another copy of Civ V, because there can be only one copy of Civ V linked to your Steam account.

There is no difference between Civ V bought as retail or digital version, both are exactly the same once linked to the Steam account, which is mandatory.
