Conquest of the new World - instant defeat

I'm trying to get all the achievements, and one of them is to discover the Orient, in the Conquest of the New World scenario. I discovered them on the Deluxe version, but didn't get the achievement. I then tried to load the normal version of the Conquest of the new World, but when its loaded I immediately lose. Is this a bug? I tried validating the game, but it didn't fix it. I also made sure to not have Lekmod installed, as that seemed to mess up all the scenarios.

Other than that, the only thing I have is Hellblazers map script, but that is a separate map setting. Does anyone know why this is happening, and whether I can do something to fix it or not?

Sounds like there are still mod files interfering.
Go to your game files and check the DLC folder, if Lekmod is in there take it it out.

After starting Civ 5 go to mods, options, show dlc mods and double check there is nothing there that will interfere.

Yeah, apparently Hellblazer's map script interfered with it. After removing that from the /maps folder, everything seemed to work properly again. Weird that a map script should interfere, but nonetheless it worked when removed.
