Computer Cheating?
The computer seems to be fairly fond of cheating. I just downloaded G&K as well as all the DLC so I started a Warlord game to have an easy cruise and check out the new content.

Four times now I've had an AI not only build a wonder before me, but do so when I used a Great Engineer to speed up construction. On top of that, on at least two occasions I know for a fact they hadn't researched the technology necessary to build those wonders. So in one turn they got one or more technological advances AND managed to bump ahead of me in the build queue to build something.

This seems to happen frequently when I use a Great Engineer; someone snakes the wonder before that turn is over and effectively wastes the Engineer. All four times I've used an Engineer this game to build a wonder, someone else (India) has built it before me.

So basically the computer can:
-Register when I've used a Great Engineer without being able to see my territory.
-Gain several technological steps in a single turn.
-Start and complete a wonder in that same turn

So, Whiskey Tango Foxtrot? Is cheating part of ALL the AI's strategy or what?

i played on prince today

Had jsut one city

Had build all(yes all wonders exept sea ones as i was not close to sea and exept brandenburg gate) other then that i build all wonders( about 30) , if you wana build wonders , play as egipt and adopt top left policy for wonder building asap , to really build all wonders you need to focus on 1 city only too:P

all wonders to year 1790 i plan to contunue game tomorow

i not noticed AI cheats , maybe im just that good?

I thought the No Cheating AI mod just shuffled bonuses around.

it does but it helps!

The problem is the AI just pulling wonders out of their ass, not the bonuses.
The AI does not cheat to instantly gain techs or wonders. It simply gets research and production bonuses. This is verifiable in the game's XML.

As far as i have been able to tell, inceeasing the computer's difficulty doesnt really change their sTrategy but rather reduces the science cost, production cost, gold cost to acquire units, tech, etc. The game becomes more difficult because it takes them fewer turns to do everything than it does you. They also appear to start off with basic tech such as archery. On the highest difficulties you will see their units heal 50%health or so every other turn sometimes, as well as the ability to spawn multiple units from a single city and move them in the same turn. So yes, the computer cheats.

Then how, may I ask, was the computer able to:
-Register when I've used a Great Engineer without being able to see my territory.
-Gain several technological steps in a single turn.
-Start and complete a wonder in that same turn

It didn't.

I can assure you, it did.

I've been playing Civ 5 standard edition for since it came out. I've used similar strategies to win on up to Max difficulty. After buying Gods and Kings I have found it COMPLETELY IMPOSSIBLE to win a game regardless of difficulty level. I've tried adjust strategy, to no avail. All games end fairly early when another nation gains an insane lead and simply rampages across the map. Something is seriously wrong with the AI in G&K.

I haven't had that problem but the AI does seem to be more set to be antagonistic to the player and part of that seems to be the ability to pull tech and wonders out of their ass.

Incidentally, whenever it happens, its almost always India that does it.

The AI can do impossible and unfair things to compensate for the lack of AI...instead of playing smart, it plays cheap with unbelieveable advantages.

At each difficulty, the AI doesn't get smarter, it just gets more bonuses. The game is designed to assume a human will be at prince level (4). After prince, there is no difference to the human player, other than the barbarian bonus. The AI is different, it plays at chieftain level (2). At every difficulty level, the AI gets an additional bonus to multiply with the chieftain modifiers. So basically, not only does the AI play at beginning level, it gets a huge bonus on top of it.

At prince level or lower, the AI's build costs are 67% of the normal cost. On Emperor, it's 53% meaning they can built twice as fast...that's before the other factors are put in! So the AI will always have an unfair advantage, and once they get established with a couple of cities, they can churn out wonders and buildings...and troops...very, very fast.

This site has a lot of information on the AI bonuses and why they can build so fast: http://www.civfanatics.com/civ5/difficulties

This game is terribad after you realize you aren't playing the game you thought you were. AI doesn't follow any rules and is playing a completely different game than real players. I might as well just flip a coin for fun. It beats this crap. What an insult to our intelligence from Firaxis. What a ripoff.

I've had this happen to me, there's something wrong with the game save i think, delete it and start fresh and see if it keep happening, otherwise use your engineers to build foundries so they aren't wasted+^_^+
