Civ V SDK not working properly *FIXED*
WorldBuilder keeps freezing. It just won't work for some reason. Not sure why. Any suggestions? I just installed it, and I even restarted.

*EDIT* Since the last patch, Civ V SDK should be working properly for everyone.

I forgot to say that as mentioned in other posts Firewalls or some Anti-virus may prevent WorldBuilder from working (because they block the connection it tries to establish with Civ5). So you should also disable it and try again.

1 launch windows task manager (keyboard azerty -> ctrl+alt+del)
2 exit steam
3 launch SDK world builder
4 SDK (local disk ->program files-> steam-> steamApps->commen->sid civiliation V ->worldBuilder -> x86 or other) will launch at the same time steam
5 Enjoy :-)

Hey all, glad (I guess...) to see that I'm not the only one with this issue...I have tickets in with Steam Support and 2K Support, we'll see which one likes us more...

Just wanted to point out that I tried to "sneak" into the program by loading a map that I have already created and accessed through built mod to no avail.

When I start World Builder, it kicks to the "back" layer of my desktop and brings the Steam daily sales to the front. When I try to bring it back to the front, I get the spinning-wheel-cursor- of-frustration and the program says (Not Responding) in the upper bar...is this what happens to everyone else?

Thanks benny, I am running Windows 7 and this solution worked for me. I closed steam as per your instructions, and then opened world builder from the steam\steamapps\common\sid meier's civilization v sdk, as instructed. When you do this and watch from the task manager, it loads up the loading box, steam, and also Civilization5.exe, which then loads world builder.

Benny's suggestion also worked for me. Thank you Benny

Just a review of what I did per Benny's very helpful instructions

I Exited steam from task manager (I just ended the steam.exe process)
I then navigated to the following directory (I have windows 7 64bit, this is the file path on my machine):
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Sid Meier's Civilization V SDK\WorldBuilder\x89
I then double clicked the WorldBuilder application to launch it
as Benny described, it launched World Builder and Steam. After a few moments World Builder loaded.

The funny thing is I tried something similar yesterday, I ended steam, navigated to the SDK directory, launch the SDK launcher then select World Builder, the same problem would occur however, World Builder would hang. I never thought to skip the launcher and just open the World Builder application. I was so close!

Anyway, Thank you once again!

TEATIME : after 2 hours of research and LUCK , I found the solution ;-)

in my opinion, since the update and the gods and kings. SDK has a problem of compatibility with DirectX 10 & 11 and steam

because after SDK if I want to play, Steam (offers me) ( propos) directX 9 (10 & 11 not supported)
So I quit and then restart steam for have directX 10 & 11

very weird !!!

This worked for me as well. I still reccomend everyone submits a ticket though, because this isn't a permanent solution.

Unfortunately, this has not worked for me yet on WinXP. Funny thing is, on my laptop with Vista, I never had an issue with the WorldBuilder not working, it is working great, even after the latest Steam updates.

Doesn't seem to work for me. All processes open, but worldbuilder still freezes and stops responding. I tried logging in and out of steam, watching processes on task manager, etc, but I don't really know if its wrong for me. I'm on win8, anybody have any ideas?
JoatGamer 2013 年 2 月 18 日 下午 6:27
Worldbuilder requires Civ 5 to be running in the background. That's why it's pulling steam to the forefront.

I followed Feuxeu77's post (#31), and it works. Kind of a pain having to open it through CMD every time.
