Sid Meier's Civilization V
********Fix for patch issues********
I found this on the 2K web site. This may help some of you but I believe my issues may be from Civ V's incompatability with windows 8. If anyone has any info on Windows 8/Civ V issues please comment here. I did this and found 3 files that didn't download correctly but I still have crashes and all my mods re-install each time I start the game. Got to be Windows 8.

Go to Steam, right click on CIV V in your library and select properties.

Click the Local Files tab and click the Verify the Intergrity of Game Cache button. This will run a few minutes.

It isn't a Windows 8 incompatibility, but a general crashing for everyone. But I did discover a "sort of" fix, to repost something I discovered earlier:

I think I figured out what is "precisely" causing the crash. I was giving the game another go, and when I tried bombarding, if I clicked the city I'm bombarding fast enough that I didn't get the arrow telling you where the shot was going to land, I was able to keep going. I was able to get through a few turns without crashing. So to see if I was correct, I let the cursor linger long enough to get the arrow, and sure enough, it crashed.

So the simple answer is: hover cursor over target, hit B, and click fast.
or delete this worthless pile of trash until 2k own up to the fact they have broken something people have paid a lot of money for
I've been big fan and played every Civ game from the very first and I have NEVER been so disappointed in my life. I will definately have to think twice before buying another Firarix game...especialy is it's on steam!!
I'm giving up. The game won't even load its own autosaves.
This fix doesn't seem to work for Vista.
Nor on macOs

Again scammed by valve. It's not the first time. But it's the last for me.
yeah, tried the fix, doesn't seem to have an effect. it said there were 2 files missing and re-installed them but to no effect. the problem i'm having is every 2 or 3 turns the game crashes with a windows message saying civ has stopped working. its rendering the game completly unplayable :(
I am seing the same thing. The developers of Civ5 at 2K have already acknowledged this problem and say they are working on a hot-fix. Go to http://www.civilization5.com/ and click on "forums".
