Can you intercept Nukes?
Pretty simple question but have never been given the chance to allow my aircraft to try intercepting because Ive never had AI's use nukes in my playthroughs. I know in civ revolution there was a building that intercepted them that came way later after nukes have been around.

wel maybe if they have SDIs then they should give ukes a chance to penetrate a dentonate
Some thoughts for a cold war mod:

ICBM (2 uranium, 2 aluminium, 2 oil): Nuclear missile, can strike anywhere.
SDI: National wonder, requires Laser, Satalites. Protection to nuclear bombs/missiles/ICBM 100%/90%/80%

Spy mission: Steal uranium. Lowers target civ's uranium by 2, while giving you 1.
Spy mission: Sabotage nuke. Depending on the rank of the spy the nuke has a chance to explode/be destroyed/be acquired
Spy mission: Dirty bomb (1 uranium while setting up). 7 Tiles in target city become contaminated with fallout.
Spy mission: Black market. Steal a nuke for a mercantile city state. The city state auctions the nuke to the highest bidder.
You can only intercept nukes if you have a Goku unit. Use a Kamehamaha blast.
one of my planes intercepted and shot at a nuke- with no effect, vanilla edition
I think they should bring back the SDI... but only give it a 10-15% success rate.
The game actually was designed so that you are able to intercept atomic bombs. This is because you get atomic bombs really early and there is no counter to it. So any anti air counter was suppose to stop atomic bombs. However it was never programmed correctly, so even if you intercepted successfully - the bomb will still do 1 damage which is enough to trigger the explosion.

Nuclear Missile cannot be intercepted

If the game mechanics don't allow for the interception of nuclear missiles, that's even more realism worked into the game. As a former ICBM launch commander in the USAF, I'm glad the game doesn't allow this as there is no system in existence that can intercept something moving in the neighborhood of Mach 15-17 upon re-entry (i.e. final approach on the target).

Thank you for your service :)

Not sure how long ago you were in, but what about the feasibility of the Iron Dome missle defense system currently deployed being tweaked for ICBM counters?

I started another thread about this a few hours ago. I think I *might* have intercepted an atomic bomb last night because one of 'em I got hit with did very little damage -- and I didn't have a bomb shelter in that city.

I dont think its technically possible to intercept the atomic-bomb bombers in game, although that actually always kind of bugged me as a Mobile SAM should be able to intercept as they would any other aircraft. ICBM's are unstoppable as well, but maybe an Iron Dome mod?

I think I did see your other thread too, but didnt have an explanation for your reduced fallout damage, maybe the game glitched out? Was it a one time thing or replicable?
I don't know if it's replicable; I'm not even sure exactly what turn it was on. I was ready to disengage with Theodora anyway so I could declare war on Suiliman, so I killed as many of her units as I could in one turn and then offered a quick peace treaty.

I just figured out (duh!) that you can use a spy as kind of a forward observer to direct air strikes (and XCOM units) into a city that you otherwise wouldn't have sight of. I thought the spy would bug-out as soon as you declare war, but just the diplomats do that. That really changes late-game warfare!

If you nuke a city where your spy is stationed, does that kill the spy? Assume it's a large city, not a 1- or 2-pop outpost that can be obliterated.

I'm prety sure the stay in the city or flee it. I'm not sure really, haven't gotten to that late an era in a while where i needed to use those tactics. Last time i did was huge world with germany dom win only.

Like I said before, might be a glitch.

And you just figured out that the Spy can be used to lift the fog of war around a city to help warfare? I figured it out when I placed a Spy in a city for the first time (when I got G&K) and said "This lifts the fog around the city? That could be useful for war!" Then again, I figure out things quickly.

No.

And nice necro thread, guys.
<embarrassed> I knew it lifted the fog around the city. I didn't notice that the spy stayed in the city when war is declared because I mostly use my spies in my own cities and in CS's. I send diplomats to the AI capitals. The diplomats run as soon as you DW.
