SS Parts won't launch
I have played a lot of Civ V, so I have achieved the science victory before.

In my current playthrough, I have the Apollo Program built, all of the spaceship parts built, but when I move any of them onto my capital (on it, not next to it), there is no option to launch the part.

No trouble building the parts, no trouble moving them onto the capital, but there is simply no option to launch, just the standard Move, Do Nothing, Sleep, etc.

This is using Brave New World, but I believe I remember the same thing happening to me a couple years ago playing Vanilla Civ V.

Has this happened to anybody else? Is there a known solution? Or is it simply a bug?

Has someone else won already? because this can happen if another player has already won some other victory.

No, nobody has won a victory.

you have to move it where its on top of your capital, not next to it.

A common mistake, yes, but I assure you it was on the capital and not just next to it.

Are you sure science victory is enabled?

There was an issue with popups not showing up on one of the windows platforms, but I believe it's been patched. But maybe it's an old save. You might check your message log for a victory that didn't pop up.

Yes, absolutely sure science victory was enabled. What I concluded likely happened was the game somehow Retired accidentally, probably somehow happening whilst having the menu up and alt tabbing. I'm almost certain this is the case because the Retire button was unavailable to select in the menu, indicating it already was. I confirmed this by purposely Retiring in a new game, and choosing "just one more turn". It will not let you Retire a second time.

Thanks for the reply.

Thanks for sharing the solution, you are not the first person who has had this happen.

I know I'm bumping an old thread but I have the same issue. I can't build the rocket. Nobody won the game. But what's also interesting I can't retire - that button is grayed out too. What am I missing?

I believe it's grayed out because, in fact, you have already retired. That's the conclusion I came to when I had this problem. I believe it can be accidentally triggered whilst the game is minimized, somehow. I don't completely believe I could have something like that happen and not notice, but I'm not sure what else it could be.
