I don't like terra novum
that's the intro music. I don't like it, I hate it enough that I want to disable it but don't dread it thattt much that I would shut down the entire music system in BNW.

What i'm saying is i'd like to just disable that music alone without disabling all the other music. Anyone have ideas? I'm guessing there's a game sound file somewhere that I can delete but I can't find it.

The sound files should be in \steamapps\common\Sid Meier's Civilization V\assets\Sounds\Streamed\Music
which one is it

Not sure I don't have Brave New World (It was specifically the intro music to BNW that was your problem right?). You can look through them until you find the right one. Then just renaming it and putting something else with its name might work to change it up.

And actually now that I'm trying things, that might have been the soundtrack files. Let me try to change some music up and see if I can get it to work.

Edit: Okay so I directed you to the main game's music files. If its BNW you'll want \assets\DLC\(whatever the folder for BNW is, my G&K one was just "expansion)\sounds\streamed\music

Edit2: So I managed to edit in Baba yetu (the opening menu music for Civ IV) as the opening menu music. The menu music will be in the top level "music" folder titled something like "OpeningMenu_exp" (at least for the G&K one). If you rename it to something else (like add a 1 to the end of the file name), and then put any other sound file (worked fine with an Mp3 I used), and rename it to what the menu music soundfile was called, that will then play as the menu music.

Also I now have Baba yetu as the menu music for Civ V, and this makes me happy.

I prefer the Civ Vanilla music, G&K annoyed me so hard, and because G&K theme music was so bad it made terra novum sounds amazing when its really only OK when you realized vanilla music was godlike

To replace Terra Nova with the vanilla theme you got to replace

~steamapps\common\Sid Meier's Civilization V\Assets\DLC\Expansion2\Sounds\Streamed\Music\OpeningMenu_Exp2.wav

with

~steamapps\common\Sid Meier's Civilization V\Assets\Sounds\Streamed\Music\OpeningMenu_Proto_1.wav

I hate that terra novum too, it's the worst one in the whole game. All the musics are so boring that after a couple of thousand game hours I decided to turn all music off. Sadly some of the speeches are categorized as a music. If you tun music off then there are no wonder quotes.

Yeah, Civ V's music just doesn't live up to the quality of the music from Civ IV. But then again, Civ IV's opening menu music won a grammy award, so I guess that would be relatively hard to top.

Thank you! I used to turn down my speakers when the annoying Terra novum began.. now I do not have to do it, the old theme is quite pleasant.

Anyone here who knows how to change the theme on Mac? I go to library/Application Support/Steam/Steamapps/Common/Sid Meier's Civilization but all i see is a hefty file of the game, 7.5gb. Can't change anything from there...

edit: Nvm, all you have to do is right click -> Show package contents.

edit2: Yeah... still not working after replacing the file. I'm just gonna give up.

Idea : Before you start the game, turn the speaker volume down; then start game .

Homer Simpson has a Grammy, and he's just a yellow cartoon character. Have you ever listened to "The Simpsons Sing The Blues"? Not Grammy material by a long shot.
