Completing Scenarios
This is my first post on the steam community so be gentle. I've been playing Civ 5 for a while now. But I can't even beat the first scenario, The Rise of the Mongols. The closest I've ever gotten was taking down China in 30 or so moves. But 4 empires in 100 moves? I just don't see how to do it. Any ideas?

There is a deity playthrough on youtube, complete with subtitles.

A bunch of keshiks is all you need. Move in range, shoot, move out of range.

Mmm. Freesh meat.

Trick is to get a group of Keshiks upgraded ASAP. Once you get double attack, the rest is cake. For cities you can move in 1 tile, shoot, then move out. Raze junk cities that don't give luxuries you don't already have.

If you are just trying to get four empires, I'd take out yellow and green China right away. Move over to Persia and then swing south to the back side of India. Russia can be easy to take, too. A little out of the way but lots of open space and the cities are easy to take. Japan can be a pain and Arabia/Byzantium are in the far back corner.

I find that the Wonders of the Ancient World scenario and the Civil War scenario are both rather easy, but they're DLC exclusive. As a result, you may not have them.

I thing that this scenario is one of harder one, try to start with some easier.

Thanks for the tips guys. Yeah the last time I tried this scenario I had a ♥♥♥♥ ton of kesheiks, but I never bothered to see if they were up gradeable. Also I basically just annexed every city I counquered.

I find that the scenarios complelty based on war (viking, mongol, korea), are easier then the others, because a) the AI often screws up troop movement, and b) on higer difficulties, they only get more troops, not more tech and settlers and etc like in Smoky skies/renaissance/ Wonders of the ancient world

That said, they should have removed happines from the mongol scenario, just like in the viking one. It is inevitable that you will go deeper than -10 and have rebels everywhere

Problem with the mongols is, that they got "nerfed to the ground" (horses get -attack strength on cities) without and compensation in that scenario. Seems to be much harder than in vanilla.

Horses get - attack on cities anyway. The trick in this scenario (like in the video) is to use your keshiks to bombard the city while staying out of range, and use a horseman to capture it when its health is almost zero. infantry cant keep up with your keshiks if you want to kill everyone in the time limit

I think, you made the same mistake in mind, like I did: You only have to survive the 100 Rounds!

What do you mean survive? Are you saying that I just have to survive 100 turns. Or that I have more than 100 turns to defeat 4 civs?

They didn't in early days of vanilla - Horseman were real monsters back then and got nerfed. -2 combat strength (from 12 down to 10) and -33% attack strengh on cities.

technicly you can win by points after 100 turns, although the purpose of the scenario is offcours to conquer everything
