gold edition vs. brave new world
I have played civilizations previous versions. tried the brave new world demo. just bought civ 5.
gold edition seems to be scenarios. is that anything else?
brave new world seems to be scenarios plus some new content such as ideologies, etc.. is that the difference? not really interested in the scenarios. however., is the new content that much stuff? seemed interesting in the demo, but seemed like $30 is alot of a few new things.

Revamped cultural and diplomatic victories. Not to mention rebalancing the social policices. New units and the world congress etc. If you shop around you can get a cheaper price I got mine for $15.

do they run sales on this on steam?

Probably during the next sale. The last sale had the gold edition for only $8 but BNW was still $30. I got BNW from g2play.

Bought BNW, but don't care for it as much as G&K's is there any way to go back to G&K's without steam automatically updating files? Or am I mistaken in thinking that my files will be updated by steam?

doesnt look like brave new world adds that much. i am readng the reviews. what about Gold? That adds G&K? So its mainly new scenarios?

You can disable mods in Civ V, I think there's a 'Mods' button in the main menu.
I don't think you can have Steam not install a certain DLC for a game.

You can disable DLC from the DLC menu on Civ 5 Title screen. BTW Gods and Kings adds religion and some other new stuff. Makes the game alot more interesting and I totally recomend it.

Check the store pages cause they have everything you need to know.

No, gods and kings is the first expansion and brave new world is the second. Gods and kings adds espionage, religion and a bunch of other stuff.

ok so what does brave new world add? i see tourism. not sure what else.
Frostman Aug 25, 2013 @ 7:35pm
tourism, trade routes, archeology, ideology, world congress, new civ, and the new culture victory.

Before BNW your income was pretty much static; in expansion you have to send caravans to other civs for most of your income, you also have to work harder to gain lot's of culture since buildings and wonders produce less without "upgrading the buildings" with works of art and artists.
In other words it just became much harder to just keep on expanding and killing your neighbours one by one.

Bought everything, not a moment of regret. Although I'd say BNW adds a lot of stuff into your game, and is imho a better option. As for acquiring more civs, you could try the Steam Workshop(?).

espionage in C&K seem to be dumbed down from previous versions. I cant do as much. I dont see a way to destroy buildings. Plus spy recruitment is wierd. Relgion doesn't seem to do all that much. The city-state stuff seems only partially implemented. they dont really mattermuch.

Base civ 5 is bad. Gods and kings makes the city-state stuff, religion and a few other things better. Also adds in some more civs. Then the next expansion pack BNW adds even more
