Civ 5 won't launch after "Select desired version of the game to play"?
I bought Civilization Gold Edition and whenever I open it up (either through Steam or straight through the application) it opens up a window asking me to "Select desired version of the game to play". I have tried selecting all available options, but after I do, nothing happens. Also, please give your support in the least technical terms possible because I'm new at this. Thanks!

Dang it, because my friend who has a Mac, (I don't know if that makes a difference or not) downloaded the game a few days ago and it's working perfectly fine for her.

I've just had the same problem. I did all the troubleshooting things I can find as well, like verifying the cache and doing the secondary installations. All it does after I click one of the options is show a black window for maybe 1/2 a second before it disappears.

If you haven't looked at the troubleshooting forum, I'd try that. My computer is 5 years old, which I can only assume makes it about as good an average tasting block of cheese in terms of properly playing games, so I have hope for you.

:'D "average tasting block of cheese" but the problem is, I have no idea how to do the trouble shooting stuff. I don't understand any of the technical stuff and it's like another language to me.
