Money making civilizations

Which civilizations make the most money and income? I understand that terrain is also a big aspect but which civilizations usually have large income?

The only Civ which provides a direct Goldbonus, which is not random, is arabia with +1g for each trade route. But at least i think there is no civ where u can say it has the largest income. You need luck with your terrain, as you already said, and just focus on economic buildings/wonders and policies.

Tbh, just get anyone good with religion (I like maya or ethopia, for their UB), try to be the first and get +4 gold from each follower, 33% faster spread and extra faith from wonders (or buildings). Then try to rush the great mosque of djenne and spam missionaries and convert the entire world - soon you'll be drowing in gold, with income of 100-200 from religion alone (depending on amount of civs/city states of course, works best with lot of city states).


Also if you like to warmonger, puppet a bunch of cities (with luxeries for the happines) and replace all improvements with trading posts, that usually gets you a lot of gold :)

You mean +1 gold for each 4 followers. But yeah, income from this religion upgrade is even greater in late eras.

since the core factors for incomes are goldmines + trading + the right kind of religion I think the civ dosn't matter that much ;)

Must agree Darius is amazing just because of his longer golden ages, match that up with machu pichu and you'll be swimming in money, other than that all i can say is rush currency because markets will solve all your problems, also even if your not going naval commerce is still awesome.

You guys are forgeting Byzantium lol!! Byzantium is the only civ that can have bolth tith wich is 1 gold for every 4 folowers then for their bonus pick church property wich is 2 gold for every city!!! you nail down bolth of those and you aint hurtn!! and you a rich muza lol!!! try it bro its powerful!!!!
