No Permanent Alliance?
Any mod that allows this? I don't really like the idea having to turn on civs I've previously made peace with.

Yeah as far as I can tell it's not a thing. It's too bad cause I spent about 400/500 turns friends with a civ who suddenly decided I was untrustworthy and turned on me for the rest of the game.

You could put a certain civ on the same team from the start, though it's not exactly the same. Another option would be to play with friends where you could pull this off more reliably.

Remember they are trying to win the game also, so they have to deal with you once your no longer useful to them.

For what its worth I once made friends with the mongolians for an entire game once. From the classical period all the way up to the end of the game, not a single war. Although it did get a little touchy at one point... I won with a science victory but had a huge military along my boarder with them and and tons of nukes ready to go just in case.

My point sometimes it is possible to make friends with a civ for the entire game, its just really rare, and in no way predictable.

okay i consider myself not a real good civ player but i dennetly would prefer to have this featrue even it isn't predictable. I would wish me this option just for fun and for a fresh wind into the gamplay. Even if it would be unpracticull it would fresh up the game a bit.

As said, best thing you can do is set up pre-determined teams from the start. I'm not sure if there's a mod that would stop alliances from changing, but considering how alliance webs function and tend to shift within a game, I doubt it; I could certainly be wrong, however. That being said, proper diplomacy and warmongering can, in many cases, easily net you alliances throughout a whole game with a particular Civilization; sometimes it's not possible, mainly with Civilizations who enjoy to backstab or war, but it's possible in many games.

Remember, the AI, in all its bumbling, is trying to win, as are you. I guarantee you that if Sejong was starting to finish the last few Space Ship parts, I would backstab him if it stopped him from winning; I wish the AI would do so with me more often. Although I can understand wanting to be best friends with someone forever, the only practical way you'll get that is through pre-determined teams, otherwise you'd have to more or less give the AI's diplomacy system an overhaul.

Add Diplomatic Marriage, lasts 100 turns, breaking it gives a large diplomatic penalty

I have played a game where *Japan* was the most peaceful AI in the game. I was friends with Oda the entire time. (friends with Gandhi for most of the game before he denounced me, and I won before he eventually attacked me -- he was so busy declaring war on Germany and Songhia and everybody else except me and Japan, he forgot to build a spaceship even tho' he started the space race with a slight lead.
