I have this issue with Civ V Gold edition on the Mac. It seems pretty universally replicable if I bring up the Steam overlay before the main menu screen. Once into the game propper the overlay works fine. If I bring it up on that annoying "click to continue" screen, the pointer will be there in the overlay, but disappear in the game, and never reappear until I restart.

Do you have pointer trails enabled?

In OS X? No.

OP didn't specify PC or Mac. I don't have any good suggestions for the Mac version, because I've never used it.

I had this problem in OSX, I changed the game resolution, then quit and loaded up the game again and the problem was fixed for me.

Yeah, it works fine after a restart, but it does seem to be repeatable, so pretty sure it's a bug.

It's definitely one I've suffered multiple times of OS X. Restarting the game always seems to fix.

The same thing happens to me, I have Gold Edition on Mac. Every time you open Steam with shift+tab and close it the cursor disappears. What you have to do is minimize the game with cmd+h and then re-open it by clicking the application, the cursor will be back.

Hi. Windows 7, having mouse trails activated makes Civ V pointer invisible. Just deactivate trails and cursor gets visible.
