workers arent working
So Im trying the free weekend to see if I want to buy it. Im in the Renaissance period and all of a sudden a bunch of workers , like 5 units, will not complete their build projects. I select pastures, roads, clear forests, whatever. The animation for work starts, but after the turn they just stand around again waiting for orders. Any help?

Then they must be done?
Is there an Exclamation Point in the Notifications section?
What does it say?

Nothing. They just stop. Forts are half built, only the foundations of trading posts get built, road construction is halted on next turn, pasture construction is halted on next turn, etc. No completion notification and when I hover over the resource it just says "cattle" rather than "cattle, pasture"...not that the pasture was actually built after I ordered it

I think that's a bug that's been around, at least for me... it usually happens when you are at war, the workers stop working as if there were enemies nearby. Just tell them to do the same work again, and again, and again, until they are done (each time you tell them to do it, it will require 1 less turn to complete the work).

Ive noticed that some of them do work, in the areas near my capitol. Ive just been deleting worker units that dont complete their tasks. This is a pretty infuriating bug.

For what I've heard, that won't do any good. It's not the workers that are the problem, but the areas they're trying to work in.
So if one worker has the bug on a particular hex, all the other workers will have the bug on that same hex although they might be perfectly happy to work on a different one.

You can still complete tasks though, you just need to issue the orders every turn, which is certainly annoying.

Also, from what I've heard, the bug doesn't exist in the G&K expansion. (I have it and have never experienced the bug myself.)
So if you decide you like the game and buy the gold edition* in the sale, you shouldn't have to worry about bug then.

*which contains all the DLC, G&K included

I have the expansion and I do have the bug from time to time. From what I can tell, it's workers near the borders, usually, they act as if there were enemy units nearby, even if there aren't. I am not sure exactly what makes them think there are enemy units nearby, but I have learned to deal with it when it happens... annoying, but whatever.

for me personally, it's annoying enough to not play the game ^_^

I have the same problem with the gold edition and its annoying, constantly re-issuing orders to workers, anyone know if this is a design flaw or a bug with the last patch?.

Not sure when the last patch came out, but I've had that problem ever since I play Civ V, which is probably around a year.

Ive been having this problem ever since I bought the game. I can't believe they never fixed it.
They stop working when enemies are nearby so that you can save them but more often than not, they stop even though the enemies have already been removed.

I wouldn't get this game at this point. The bug was introduced into the vanilla game when they patched the expansion and broke vanilla. Its technically playable but please dont support this level of douchebaggery with $$. Its such a simple fix its really pathetic that this isn't fixed 8 months after the bug showed up

Yea Im not getting it. It can take upwards of 10 turns to build a road. Thats just too frustrating for me.

changing the ai behavior of something is never a "simple fix" it might be as simple as a mispelled flag, it might be something that requires a rewrite for that entire code section. The fact that not everyone has it tells me it requires some fairly specific circumstances to occur, and there probably are community fixes for it if its a "simple fix"
