You can bring up the tech tree with F6. F5 is social policies. F4 is diplo (and has more information than the normal drop-down on the right).
It doesn't unfortunately. Given how repetitive it can be in the early game, I really wish there were a simpler way than mousing to the big button in the corner.
Failing a civ mod or script I might create an autohotkey but that is so hacky.
The reason is that while the script works (for a 1920x1200 screen, #space:: click 1600,980) you need the mouse to select the tech or thing to produce. That's probably why they didn't have the hotkey for these two. :(
And I bet you'll still find reasons to complain..
Also be careful making your own scripts etc, if you put more units into production queue for example than the max it's supposed to hold, the game tends to glitch out and not look cool at all. As for Research.. just scroll all the way to the right click on the last icon and off you go.. it'll get there eventually and save you all that hard work and mouse clicking!
Moving the mouse all the way over to the right side of the screen becomes incredibly tedious at very high resolutions. I play on an Apple Cinema Display with a native resolution of 2560x1440
What happend to those 2 mods anyway? I still *appear* to be subscribed via Workshop, yet both of them, upon closer inspection, say missing..."file may have been removed by author". Are they just plain gone?
When you have to move the mouse all the way to the right to click the "CHOOSE PRODUCTION" button, then all the way back to the left to select your production, that might not seem like much work...
... until you have to repeat that same task for each of the 30+ settlements you might have on one playthrough or another. When I tried mass-producing missiles in 50 settlements, THAT was really tedious.
If only people didn't condemn things they don't understand, the world might not be such a bloody sh*t hole.
