Can't found religion with great prophet

So I got a great prophet and tried founding a religion. After choosing "found religion" i saved to be able to make changes to the religion later on, but I can't choose anything but the icon and name for the religion, and when I try to click "Found Religion" it doesn't do anything.

Really annoying since my save before i got the prophet is like 20 turns behind and I can't progress without founding a religion now.

Any help would be appreciated.

It won't let you pick the beliefs? Are they greyed out?

No. Just nothing happens when I try to click them. I started a new game and it works in that one.

Same problem for me. Got the game a couple days ago, started a game and got the prophet, went to found a religion and can't select any of them to move on. Can go anywhere on the map, just can't advance the turn becuse it's stuck on selecting the religion. I don't have a previous save game, so I'll have to start again, I guess.

Saving during the option to found a religion might create a bug...dunno.

One thing i've noticed is when the game does this non-responding button thing. I open the MENU button, and close it, or open the civopedia. It fixes that problem a lot for some reason.

I solved my problem...by reading the Advisor screen when it came up again. You can't just select a religion, you have to select founder belief, and then select follower belief before you can select the chosen religion. It wasn't clear to me anywhere else until the third game I played and noticed the advice.

I had the same problem, but i figured there are only a X amount of religions and the other civs took them all.

Same for me, had to build a holy site with that prophet and founded a new religion with the next one...

Does this happen when you complete the Hagia Sophia without having a pantheon?

If you get a great prophet before a pantheon you found the pantheon at the same time as the religion.

I'm playing an archipelego map as the ottomans, and three civs that have "religions" are all pagans: It even says "There are no world religions". So I get a great prophet, and all he can do is build a Holy site! What's up with that?

I had a similar issue, was pretty lame. I have had the prophet work before and then everyone decided war all the time, much like rl.

That thing destroyed my multiplayer game today. 20-30 fast-paced simultaneous turns with that inactive "found religion" and I lost trace of my workers, units, battles.

This works exactly as described. Thanks.

Essentially, you clock Founder, then Follower in which you choose the bonus of which each gives.
Once chosen, you can then implement you religion.

So many years passed and I found this as a top result for the same problem, glad the solution was posted so quickly! This is the first Civ game I've played.
