but error 42 is gone now and it still isnt working. also at the bottom of my screen i noticed that whenever i try to open world builder a tab opens and closes again within a fraction of a second. i cant read that fast but it probaly says Civilization V. i only said to open world builder but it opens world builder and civ and then closes civ and then says i am still in game. one last thing: it no longer says i cant open world builder because civ is running. now it just says error and asks if i want to leave a comment for the people that check that kind of thing.
this paragraph is being inserted a little while after i posted the comment. i was in my library looking around and i saw that the total hours on civ are going up, when i havent been playing it. so maybe the game has been running on the main menue for quite some time now and i just dont know how to get to it. i tried clicking play but it says it is already running like i expected.
i hated it from the beginning with this 3rd party application crap. having been a Civ player since the very first one (i still have the original cd's). i knew someone was going to screw it up.
and before you ask, all my drivers are up to date (win 7 [64], and nvidia gts 250)...
FIX THIS and give me back my ability to play in DX 10/11 ... if not, guess i will never buy a game associated with steam again
... ...
Update: well i seem to have fixed 1 problem, running in DX 10/11 ... it seems when this problem started about a month ago, due to some strange steam updates 3 days in a row, the option wasn't available ... NOW microsoft had some important updates that just apparently became available today, after installing them (1 was an important update to their Silverlight-whatever-crap) i can now load up the game on DX 10/11.
however, i still get a Terrain Texture Error ... and that my friends come from the Civ update you just released ... so get your asses moving and find the problem code ...
System specs
9750 2.4ghz phenom quad
gts 450
8 gb ram
32 bit win vista
ka790gx msi mainboard
Right click on your taskbar, and select "Task Manager" (or press Ctrl-Alt-Del and open task Manager that way). Then go to the "processes" tab, and see if there's anything with Civilization in the name (CivilizationV_DX11.exe for instance). If there is, tell it to end process.
Or reboot your computer.
"Terrain Texture Error"
"Texture load failed!
assets/terrain/peices/Wonder_potosi_America//Feature_Amer_cerro_de_Potosi_H.dds"
Hit ok...
same msg again but ending in "T1.dds" instead of "H.dds"
Then it says about the first filepath
"T1.dds is the wrong size!"
It also shows the error as Afri+Euro files in place of "America//Feature_Amer_"
The errors eventually stop showing up and gameplay works fine in dx9, I used dx 10/11 mode earlier.
You can't rollback to a previous patch.
