Happiness issues
Are there any good happiness mods that makes the happiness more fair? It seems to be that the happiness punishes you if you try and expand yet the AI can be spread wider than Lindsey Lohan at a coke party and have 25+ happiness. There has to be some solution, yes yes don't have more than 2 cities blah blah, but there has to be some mod, currently I'm playing vanilla CIv 5 but would be open to some mod that does something better for the happiness system it really ruins the game for me.

Also I don't think I get the proper amount of happiness from working wonders, at least when I mouse over my happniness it doesn't say "X for working Y wonder". I do know that you need to have it in your teritory and have a person working it from that town, even then it doesn't seem to be working right for me.

not sure what you mean by working wonders? you mean resources? as long as the improvement is built and its in your zone you get the happiness bonus.

You should try and get better and not use a mod i reckon , happiness is a big part of the game to control growth and city spam. It's not hard to manage when you know what you doing.

Try playing as Egypt and building there UB , Found a religion and choose hapiness benefits , trade resources , ally with the hapiness city states as they give huge boost you can get about +15 or more from 2 of them , pick social policies that give it , build wonders that give it , found cities near new resources , dont just build cities in bad places.

As you can see there's loads of ways of increasing it , you can have a really high happiness of 70 or more. Just remember each population adds to unhapiness dont found cities unless you know you can handle it. It's only really at the start you need to manage it carefully but thats a major factor in the game to stop city spam early.

I think the OP is referring to the cheating AI which indeed is a notable issue in this game. I've had games where after ~80 turns I had AI in my game with 4 cities and 60+ happiness while owning only one luxury resource. Sadly there are too many variables in this game to take into account to make a smart AI. So instead, AI requires cheats at the higher difficulties to prove a challenge to you.

Thanks Billy for your input, I've played the game, I've finished it a few times but it never feels right beacuse of this happiness factor. I meant natural wonders sorry, aren't natural wonders supposed to provide happiness when worked?

Natural wonders do not give happiness when worked. Only specific natural wonders supply happiness.

Happiness is fine, the computer only gets to cheat because the AI would be like playing against someone passed out at their keyboard if they didn't get to cheat. Also you get happiness when you discover a natural wonders, the only wonders that say they provide happiness (such as old faithful) will provide happiness when worked.

Like everyone else said you will learn to deal with happiness as you get better at the game, its there to prevent you from just rapidly expanding your empire in the early game, if you want a lot of cities then you need to start controlling your population.

What difficulty are you playing at? There's a lot of things that increase happiness.

Luxury resources, certain buildings like colosseums and theatres, a few wonders, and various policies all help.

Spreading quickly, especially by conquest, will hurt you.

http://civilization.wikia.com/wiki/Happiness_(Civ5) is slightly incomplete, but the most obvious omission that occurs to me are unavailable in vanilla (specifically, certain religion upgrades let you build buildings that can give various bonuses among faith, happiness and culture_/
