Ruler of the Seas Achievement

Can't seem to find a topic about this one so I might as well make one.

I'm working on the Ruler of the Seas achievement where you have to sink well over 370-ish ships as England across various games. I'm not having trouble setting up the achievement, it just takes the right map and a lot of time but I'm curious as to whether or not there is a way to keep track of how many ships have been sunk other than simply manually counting them.

Is there a counter somewhere or should I just keep blasting away at enemy navel units until I get it?

Ctrl+F debug and then scroll down to the "Tracking Achievements". It'll tell you how to turn on the achievement debug file. When you turn it on, load Civ V and then close it. Then open the Achievement.debug file and scroll down until you see BRITISHNAVY and the counter. It'll tell you how many ships you've sunk as the British.

I have a question for this achievement.
Will it also count, if I sink ships as England in one of the scenarios (New World, Scramble for Africa and so on), or it is only in regular games?

I'm not sure, honestly. If anyone has that ticker enabled in the debug mode, play the scenario a while and check. I may do this eventually and let you know if I get any results.

Depends if england counts as england .

In the Smoky skies scenario I know that one of the Civs take the place of England so if the scenario counts it than you could get the acheivment playing as it.

that debug mode looks neat gotta see how it runs :)

But I wonder, why haven't they put a counter at all counting achievements, in the achievement overview here at Steam? They had done it with two of them already ("Gimme Your Lunch Money!" and "Rest in Gold Pieces"). So why not them all?
That will make it a bit easier.

It seems, that the Ruler of the Seas also counts in scenarios. I played the New World scenario as England, and I sank 3 ships. Before I played the scenario, my counter says 157, and after it says 160 (and it was barbarian ships).
So yes, the scenarios also counts - the New World scenario do in any case.

Can you do it via hotseat multiplayer? I have it where I just keep building one side ships and destroying them with England. Please let me know so I don't waste my time

I think so - some achievements don't work in hotseat (like that Kasbah thingy)

best way is to just load up an archipelago map on Info Era start on Deity, turn off every vics and just blast everything that comes your way
