Is Civ 5 mainly a multiplayer game?
I know civ 5 games take multiple hours, so do most play it mainly online with random people? (or with bots).

Most people play it single player, but there are plenty of people who play MP.

Unless you have some kind of statistics on that I sincerely doubt it. Civilization V is most definitely known for being a great multiplayer game.

That said, I always prefer to play single player than play with random people. I never join random games. However, nothing measures up to the fun and excitement of a multiplayer game with friends.

200hr and never touch multiplayer. Honestly, I can't imagine playing 10hr something game with strangers. Perhaps when I have friends to play with.

It is common knowledge majority of ppl play single player in civ series, always has been this way, if you need "proof" for everything you read then go find it yourself.

I've played 1,200 hours of this game and 95% of it has been single player. Multi-player is just a moron-fest, full of quitter, whinners, cheats, and 13 year olds. If you can find a group of dedicated players I'm sure it would be fun, but just hoping into a random MP game will usually be a joke.

I started an informal survey thread here about 2 months ago asking people what they mainly play, single or multi, and the winner of that informal survey was single player.

Hotseat is the only way I even consider playing multiplayer on this game since I like doing the turned based play. If you are turn based online, some fool will end up spending half an hour mircomanaging a city screen then go off to take a dump without hitting the next turn button.

What am I supposed to "find" for proof? Granted, this thread sure makes it seem that most people do single-player, and maybe that's true, but from my experience only serious players like myself and a few others will do single-player at all, while most others play the game for multiplayer almost exclusively. And of course, the only consistently good multiplayer is with friends, so if you don't have any that play then you probably would want to stick to single-player.

its a single player game.. with a MP element. and while MP is usually "active".. it is by no means "mainly" multiplayer. Now, if you had to say, launch a single player skirmish through a multiplayer browser, maybe.

the crux is that even on quick this game (unless hotseat or with friends) takes entirely to much time for many online players. there is a good amount of drop play, when participating with pugs. but dont let that discourage you. there are communities of players that will go the distance of a full online game and can be some good fun.

i would suggest joining a community or encouraging some friends to play with you.
