Civ 5 Steam Cloud - PC to Mac?
Hi all,
Long time Civ player, but over the years, I have almost exclusively played on a single machine. As such, I always saved my games locally. Recently, I have started playing on my laptop (Win7x64) while traveling, and would like to be able to continue those games on my iMac (late 2013) when I get home.

I have tried to save my game under the "Steam Cloud" on my laptop, but when I go to the desktop, all of the slots appear empty. I have seem conflicting/dated information on various forums and was wondering if anyone could provide an updated status of whether Civ 5 supports saving games in the cloud 1) at all, 2) OS-Specific only, or 3) OS agnostic?

If the cloud is not possible for saving games, is there any alternative to going between systems? (namely, is it possible to extract the saved game file and share across Dropbox or other service?). I am not super techie, so I dont want to have to go into source code or anything, but if I can achieve my goal with a simple file transfer, that is probably doable.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

There are the Mac savegames:
library (hidden one) / Application Support / MBW / Savegames / Prophesy of Pendor (for instance, the name of the mod)

Civ V saves are given a different name for Mac, and this makes Windows saves not appear on Mac and Mac saves not appear on windows. Changing the file name will take care of this. This is also why the cloud saves don't appear. The saves are there, but the game won't recognize them because of the name.

Unfortunately, this means cloud saving between Mac and PC isn't a good idea. The best you can do is put the save file on a cloud service, and renaming it when necessary.

Can you provide any additional details on what changes need to be made to the file name? Or linky to a discussion thread with related info?

Thanks!

If you have Civilization V from the Mac App Store the saved games are in this folder:

~/Library/Containers/com.aspyr.civ5campaign/Data/Library/Application Support/Civilization V Campaign Edition/Saves/single/
