Civ 5 Wont Launch on Windows XP
Hello

I just downloaded Civ 5 with both expansions onto my old computer (Windows XP) for some good old LAN.
I have it also installed on my current PC with the same account if that matters.

I can sign into steam just fine on the old PC but when I launch it imminently dies. I've given the Value program folder full permissions but the problem still persists.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks

I upgraded the RAM on the computer from 1.5 GB to 2 GB (I know right) just to meet the requirements. Besides the obvious ones, I cant tell whether the computers other specs meet the requirements. Here's exactly what it says from System Properties: Intet(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.00ghz 3.00 ghz, 2.00 GB of RAM Physical Address Extension. Does this meet requirements?
Alas Away Sep 27, 2014 @ 12:20pm
Same thing here, Win 7. Worked like a charm a couple of days ago.
Fallenangel700 Sep 27, 2014 @ 6:28pm
I think that we have different problems Alas Away since mine has never worked. Can someone please tell me if my PC meets the requirements?
The Rock God Sep 27, 2014 @ 11:16pm
What graphics does it have? If it didn't even have 2GB of RAM, there's a good chance the graphics are way below minimum.

Intet(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.00ghz 3.00 ghz, 2.00 GB of RAM Physical Address Extension This is what it says for computer properties, I have a hunch that I does meet the graphic requirements from memory although I cant tell from looking at this.

Are you using a Laptop? Because the instant shut down will happen to me sometimes across a range of games.
I think it's battery related, like the games drawing to much power from the battery.
I can't be specfic though because i'm still trying to find out why this happens myself, best lead i have so far.

Post
1.everything in the System Information section
2. DxDiag Notes - only if errors are found.
3. Display Devices only down to "Driver Date/Size:"

@redrum91825 Its a desktop, I don't think power is the problem since its on launch.

@greg_chow_13 I'll try that

What would you suggest upgrading to? Keep in mind that it is a fairly old motherboard.

What is the reason you are still using XP on that device? Because probably it will also run windows 8.1 with some tweaks..
