How long must I war?
I agreed to declare war after 10 turns with a civilization. I've done that and in three turns captured the cities I wanted. How long must I wait before making peace before the civ that asked me into the war will not get upset when I make peace?

They never care

If I remember correctly you agree to be in a war at least 10 turns.

You went to war, that's all that matters. They don't care about you making peace or even whether you actually fight.

I thought the AI usually won't agree peace with you for 10 turns.

It varries from AI to AI, and also depends on how much damage you've done to them (Killed units or captured cities)

Some AIs are extremely stubborn about making Peace unless you're completely stomping them into the ground.
Some will ask for peace after you kill a few units.

That is a different thing. I was talking about minimum turns. So, when you promise to go to a war, then peace negotiations are not available for 10 turns, because of your agreement. It might take longer, but that war agreement prevents peace deals for those 10 turns.

To clear up things. The other civ doesn't get upset about the peace deal at all... that war agreement just blocks peace deal option for set amount of turns.

If you've got all you want and can't end the war yet, just XP grind your units until you can endit. You'll thank yourself in the next war.

Thanks for the clarification.

I was asking because it's NOT covered in the wiki. I THOUGHT I recalled that it was 10 turns but I'm playing the current game in marathon mode and Hiawatha is getting his butt kicked. After I joined Poland in declaring war, the Zulus jumped in too. So far he's lost four cities to me (two I liberated) he's lost two to to the Zulu and so far none to Poland. I'm wondering if the limit isn't pushed to 15 turns when playing in Maraton mode.

usually they make peace when you have the advantage or their resources are crap. what i learned from my own matches against ai.
