Your experience streaming Civ 5 to a tablet? Touch controls don't seem to work well.
Greetings,

I bought a new windows 8 tablet and played Civ 5 on it. It worked OK, but it took a long time to load a game, and the tablet got very hot even on low settings. For these reasons, I looked in to streaming Civ 5 from my gaming desktop PC to my tablet using the new "In home streaming" service from the steam beta client. The game streams perfectly, except that when the game is in tablet/touchscreen mode, the multi finger gestures are not transferred to the game!

This is a super exciting service, because I can now play games on a 200$ tablet anywhere around the house!! I have my PS4 controller hooked to my tablet, and i'm streaming content to my tablet from my powerhouse PC. I don't know if this is a limitation of the steam beta streaming service, or a limitation of Civilization 5, but I would LOVE to see this feature resolved as this would be a great game to play from my couch.

I would love to be able to load up a game (quickly), play a few rounds, and then move on. As it stands, the Civ 5 install takes up a major portion of my 32GB hard drive, and takes too long to load to justify keeping it installed.

Does anyone else have any experiences streaming this game to a touchscreen device?

No experience with tablets but personally I'm on the lookout for a tablet with inputs so you could just use it as a monitor. Doesn't that functionality make perfect sense? They usually have great little screens and it would totally bypass all the problems with streaming - I don't understand why this isn't considered basic functionality in the tablet world.

The multi-touch gestures are being run on the computer running the game. The tablet is just streaming it, so I doubt that stuff is being transferred over. Especially if your desktop doesn't have a touchscreen (don't know from your post).
I've seen lots of tablets on the market that have a mini HDMI out on them, but they were android not windows. My current tablet does not have this. I think its a good idea, considering a controller + hdmi out could turn it into a cheap game console to play controller enabled PC games on your TV.

It's likely a matter of cutting costs. Tablets are all coming down in price and it's a tough market now that everyone has a device. I personally just upgraded to a cheap windows based tablet (dell venue 8 pro for 200$), and my previous was a android tablet I purchased 3 years ago.

I understand that the (non touch) desktop PC is expecting the input, but when I plug a controller into my tablet, the streaming program forwards all button presses from my tablet to my desktop seamlessly.

In order for dark souls 2 to recognize my PS4 controller and allow me to play, I had to install some special drivers on my desktop PC. I plug my controller into my tablet, stream dark souls 2, and it works 100% without having to install this driver on my tablet too. If this works, I imagine that the client should be able to forward multi touch gestures to my desktop as well.

Just a thought
