"Faith Healers"
Does it work in enemy cities too? Last night, I was fighting a war with Japan, and I had taken a coastal city (Tokyo) in a previous peace settlement. Rather than defending Kyoto and Osaka, Japan sent most of its units to recapture Tokyo. My religion has the faith healers pantheon and Tokyo had adopted my religion. I swear I saw an almost dead Japanese caravel next to my city heal +50 in a turn. Without that, the city would have held -- the attacking units were healing faster than the city, but the caravel was the only melee unit left. (I managed to kill the others but it was tough)

I did capture both Osaka and Kyoto so the story has a happy ending. But Tokyo has the Great Lighthouse and I was rather fond of it. <sniffle>

I to am carious as this ability sounds OP in and of itself. It wouldn't suprise me if they got the perk too seeings they get the follower perks anyway

Looks like that caravel was about to level up and AI took +50HP heal as a bonus, instead of usual +1 to vision or +15% attack.
On higher difficulties AI cheats as hell and they promoting waaaay to fast. But this was just normal promotion. I saw it quite a lot on immortal/diety difficulties

Does the above pathoise do what it implys cuz it does sound very OP to heal an extra +30 hp next to a city

Ya it is very OP, its a Pantheon belief so you don't even need to spread your religion!!!
It only works on your cities, not allied city states though. but 50 healing next to a city and 55 inside a city is sweet. Especially if you have march

If you want heal your ship, away from you territory, you need the upgrade, that will alow you to heal. I dont think so, that AI´s caravel had it. AI dont usualy take that skill. But I dont know, if you will heal +30 HP, even if that city follow that religion. Its quite tricky question :D

The only way another civ can get your pantheon beleif is

Religious tolerance Cities with a majority religion also get the Pantheon belief bonus of the second most popular religion.

So the "Second" most popular religion would have to be your religion.

That implys each religion gets its pantheon anyway. so if i had faith healers and spread my religion to enemy 1. enemy 1 would have that religions pantheon. Unless pantheons work like founder perks and only goes to the faction leader to started that religion. however i think it is possible to spread a pantheon so this leaves me being general unsure has to how exacly the work

Thats a good point they shouldn't be able to get that effect if they are at an enemy city. Unless thats the draw back cuz attacking a city with faith healers would be easy if they have no troops

Little confused on your scenario. Pantheon is like a Founder Belief, It is only the religion owner that gets it's bonuses. The only Exception is from the Social policy "Religious tolerance".

Pantheon belief is applied to ALL city's regardless of the religion it is. The easiest way to test this is take "Desert Folklore" and see that you get faith from desert tiles in a city you own with no religion.

I think some of their other units healed +20 instead of +10, and there was nothing there to pillage... I wonder if the fact that it was a occupied Japanese city had anything to do with their units healing?

The "heal instantly" promotion makes a lot of sense, that's probably what happened to the caravel.

I was also surprised that my ships with the Great Lighthouse extra movement didn't lose it when I lost the city. New ships don't have it, obviously.

That anwsers my question so thanks. i had assumed you needed followers in the city first and thats why it could work on others. Also aplolages for the confusing example

that will also apply for the heroic epic(?) that grants the moral perk(?) to all units train in the city regardless if the city is later caped
