How can you tell national wonders from unique wonders in tech tree?
I can't tell them apart, both are circles and there is nothing in the description that says if it is national or unique.

Am i missing something obvious? How can you tell?

I also would like to know this?

National Wonders can only be built after all of your cities have a certain building. They are: Circus Maximus, East India Company (BNW), Grand Temple (G&K, also must be built in a Holy City), Hermitage, Heroic Epic, Ironworks, National College, National Epic, National Intelligence Agency (G&K), National Treasury, National Visitor Center (BNW), and Oxford University.

The easiest way to tell is that the National Wonders will say in the description "Requires _________ in all cities". Hover over it, or right click it and it will open up the Civilopedia, which lists the description from there.

By Unique Wonders, what do you mean? Do you mean regular World Wonders? Policy/Ideology-specific Wonders? Special Wonders? World Wonders can be built by anyone. Policy/Ideology-specific Wonders say "Requires ___________ (a social policy or ideology)" in the description. Special Wonders are the Guilds in BNW (Writer's, Artist's, Musician's). They can only be built once in a Civilization, but don't require prerequisite buildings in all cities, but qualify as wonders. There are only three: Writer's Guild, Artist's Guild, and Musician's Guild.

Easiest way to tell is to hover over the icon in the tech tree or right-click the icon and read the Civilopedia description.

By unique wonders i meant the wonders that can only built once in the world.

I was doing a wonder rush game and needed to spot the unique wonders quickly in the tech tree.

Reading descriptions is tedious, it would be so simple if they added a special border around unique's icons, or even a different shape than circle such as hexagon to make them easier to spot at a glance.

Ah. So you mean the World Wonders. All wonders can only be built once in the world, except for the National Wonders and the Special Wonders, which are for individual Civilizations. There aren't many National Wonders/Special Wonders, so it shouldn't be hard. Just quickly skim the text for "Requires ____________ in all cities" (it should be the last sentence), and you know it's a National Wonder. Aside from the 3 Guilds, everything else are World Wonders.

Also, like half of the National Wonders have the word National in their name. So that's a dead giveaway. After a while, either way, you will remember which ones are National Wonders.

Thanks, ill have to remember them.

Still, not sure how you would suggest features to firaxis but differenciating the wonders in the tech tree would certeinly help make the interface clearer.

Definitely agree. I remember the first few times I played Civ V and was all "What the heck is a National Wonder? How is it different? Why isn't there an easier way to tell?"

Should be easy remembering. Five of the National Wonders have the word "National" in their names (National Epic, National College, National Treasury, National Intelligence Agency, National Visitor Center). Didn't take me long to remember all the National Wonders.

See my first post.

Oh yeah, National Treasury is gone. Played Vanilla and G&K for a while, so National Treasury is still in my heart.

Sorry to bump a really old thread, but I started playing recently and was curious about this as well. I guess the answer is you just have to memorize them.

Seems really odd though that Oxford is a national and not a world wonder. That's the one that got me wondering (pardon the pun).

Just open the Civpedia in the game and look up World Wonders.

The only national wonder with a unique name is Oxford College. Most national wonders have generic names.

Good tip, I tend to forget that the game has extensive in-game help. Still would be nice though if the world wonders were identified when you're looking at what to build.

And Circus Maximus and East India Company. Could include Hermitage, too, since it's referring specifcally to the Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg, though there are other buildings in the word with the name.
